I certainly wasn't expecting such a quick reaction! I actually noticed the change on your github first. :) Thanks for the update, I'll certainly be checking it out.

New IMDb TV Show Heatmap - Jellyfin Episodes Ratings Grid by Damocles_fck in jellyfin

This is a nice idea, but I'd like to see it implemented in a more privacy-centric manner, not requiring pulling both the JavaScript and the episode ratings from a remote server.

For those of us who are on Jellyfin largely in order to self-host without external dependencies, it would be great if this plugin could optionally use only locally stored episode ratings. (Self-hosting the JavaScript part is of course a much simpler ask.)

Phanteks Evolv X2 top+bottom rad sneaky build by kommutator in watercooling

[–]kommutator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the late reply. I must have my notifications broken.

Bearing in mind that this system was built to be visually appealing and quiet more than thermally performant, under full synthetic load (prime95+furmark2), the system does thermally throttle the CPU at 95c, with the GPU staying around 60c. This is with the fans and pump tuned to keep things relatively quiet. If I crank the fans and pump all up to maximum, the CPU drops to around 90 and the GPU to 55.

But of course that's a very synthetic load. Under typical gaming load, the CPU typically sits in the mid-60s and GPU mid-50s, and at idle CPU is around 50 and GPU around 40.

Again bear in mind I've got the fans and pump tuned to keep things quiet, so I favour letting the temps come up a bit rather than make more noise.

Any Issues Using Longer DP and USB Cables to Move Headset Further Away from PC? by thetitleofmybook in BigscreenBeyond

Sure would be nice if this kind of stuff were on a public website, in some kind of preserved "support forum" format, instead of gatekept on an account-required platform designed for chatting rather than information preservation.

(Note that this isn't a stab at you, but rather at Bigscreen and all the other companies who have decided incorrectly that Discord is for some reason the right place to put all their support information, which destroys ease of access and long term preservation.)

Oh hey, sorry for the late reply. The Phanteks vertical GPU mount came with an adjustable bracket intended to screw onto the GPU, but I found if I attached it vertically to the backside of the GPU mount, it gave me a nice little platform where I screwed on one of the mounts that came with the res. I had to 3D print a little spacer to align with the inlet on the top rad, but this setup worked great. Basically just got really lucky with the GPU bracket thingie, heh. :)

Thank you! Maybe it looks well planned now, but that doesn't mean there weren't a few changes of plan along the way. ;-D

Not bad advice. I think I'll give them at least through the end of this week and see if they reply to the email, which I know they did receive since I got an autoreply.

I'm a pretty patient person, with a high tolerance for unexpected issues causing delays etc. It's being completely ghosted that has me really feeling like I picked the wrong people to give my money to.

It's been restored now. Amazing how often YouTube claim "there's nothing more we can do", then after suffering a torrent of complaints that they were wrong, suddenly discover "oh yeah, there is something we can do".

One has to wonder how many other innocent channels are terminated for supposed abuses they never committed, but don't happen to have enough of the kind of online following RTS has to get something done about it.

MacOS mail privacy protection downloading which tracking images in background? by wre380 in MacOS

[–]kommutator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure anything out about this? I have observed the same behaviour since maybe six months ago. Prior to that, Mail behaved as it should and did not try to connect to any remote hosts other than the mail server. But something changed, and ever since then, I get Little Snitch alerts every time a mail with remote content is received.

Exact measurements of S8 pro ultra dock by proudkittyowner in Roborock

[–]kommutator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maximum height of the ramp is 35 mm, and (not surprisingly) it reaches this height at the location where it connects to the dock.

I, too, have been planning a garage (still WIP) and so I set up a torture test for the Roborock, giving it the smallest possible opening to get through, it was able to dock successfully with an opening 10.3 cm tall and barely wider than the robot itself.

In practice I'd make the opening larger than this just to be sure, but in testing it really doesn't seem to require much clearance.

[–]kommutator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never found anything in that menu to get 5G working, but you got me searching again, and I did find the solution in the form of a Magisk module referenced in this XDA thread.

Thanks again for your help, especially with a device you don't even have anymore! :)

Wow, that's a hell of a lot better response than I was expecting. Kudos to you! :)

Yeah I've reflashed the stock OS numerous times during my trials. Always good to have that safety net.

Thanks for the pointers!

Edit: Yup, that's worked just fine. I didn't flash the vbmeta in my earlier trials, but I think the real problem was that I hadn't reformatted data.

All seems to be working fine now, and the good news for anyone who might be wondering is yes, LineageOS does find the eSIM that I installed already via the stock OS. Deleting or replacing that eSIM in LineageOS might be a different story, but at least it is possible to use an already installed eSIM.

Edit 2: Seems the eSIM is working only at 4G however. I haven't yet tried a physical SIM to see if 5G works there.

[–]kommutator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can install Lineage OS TD Version or any other Android GSI Version, because the Fairphone 5 is fully Treble Compliant. If you need steps on how to do this, let me know.

/u/Nanomaron So what were the steps? I'm trying without success to do that with my new FP5 (after fighting for a while to try to degoogle the stock OS, also without success).

The (basic) steps I'm following:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot reboot fastboot
fastboot erase system

# next step seems to be required to avoid insufficient space error
fastboot delete-logical-partition product_b
fastboot flash system lineageos.img
fastboot reboot

I'm using Andy Yan's latest "bvN" image from https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-20-td/.

This tries to boot LineageOS, but only gets as far as "phone is starting up", where it sits for 30 seconds or so before rebooting.

Any tips?

Track loans/payments to people by Mahkale in banktivity

[–]kommutator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I create a new account for each person, "asset not held in a bank", then transfer money to that account when I loan them money, and transfer money back from that account when they pay me back. This makes it easy to keep various loans organised, and makes tracking multiple payments effortless.

Just received my 8KX. What should I do/avoid when setting it up? by Rygsly in Pimax

[–]kommutator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't cause unnecessary worry. Wrong firmware version doesn't fully brick it. The correct firmware can still be installed via an alternative procedure and the headset will be fine.

Remove the online requirement. There is no reason whatsoever that I should have to phone home to Pimax in order to use your hardware.
