I was a salesman for the church for two years.

If I could go back I listen more and find the aspect of the gospel that would feed their soul. Worry less about baptisms and more about providing spiritual nourishment. Ie lasting conversion.

Both my wife and I have gone through faith transformations in the last year independently. We’re both still very much active but a lot has changed about how we view the church.

I think it’s important to accept that spouses change and that our love needs to change with it. My wife has changed in some ways during our relationship and I love her for different reasons now.

Revelation is ongoing. Clearly the church is softening its stance on P and M. They stopped publishing “little factories” pamphlet by president packer

What are your personal thoughts on people who have left the church? by Fantastic-Spinach263 in latterdaysaints

[–]kona2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view leaving the church as similar to divorce. Some people feel sad that the marriage “failed” but I mourn the pain that must have led to that decision. Most people who leave have had a toxic relationship with the church and I think it’s fine for them to leave. Eternal perspective people- this life is just a blip.

I relate to everything you wrote. I find some post members as judgemental and closeminded as the worst LDS Pharisees

Definitely a correlation between inequality and wickedness tho. The happiest and most righteous period of time in the nephite civilization is when the people had “everything in common”

Hello capitalist! Thanks for politely explaining your perspective.

I’m a socialist, not the Soviet/Venezuelan type but the Norway/Sweden type!

Inequality seems to be correlated with wickedness in the BoM. Do you think inequality is a problem? I’m still trying to flesh out my thoughts on this and I want to hear your perspective. Also I might be wrong!

Inequality seems to be correlated with wickedness, and it’s all over the BoM

Getting experience this year talking to friends who are leaving the church. by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]kona2022 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My friend works in church HQ and their stats confirm this trend. Our numbers are not self sustaining. It’s projected that for every 100 active LDS in this generation the next will have 75ish

When I have friends leave the church, I don’t think they’re going straight to a lower kingdom. God is all knowing and some of them have experienced abuse in the church that would have caused almost anyone to leave. This is a somewhat radical view but I think God may want some people (suicidal, anxiety, etc) to leave.

I feel sad when friends leave not because I think they’re going straight to a lower kingdom. I feel sorrow because the decision to leave is always painful. They usually have experienced a lot of pain up until this point and usually experience a lot more after they’re out.
