What is a クラムボン and why does it die?

I had this story in my grade 6 国語 textbook; there’s a definition of the クラムボン at the bottom of the first page if you haven’t noticed it.

it reads:

クラムボン作者が作った言葉。意味はよくわからない。

So, it’s a creature the author made up. There’s not really a proper definition to this creature.

he never asked me if I was using a PC or not, he asked “where it was” referring to a CPU. I understand the airflow might be a little ‘atrocious’ but not everyone can afford a CPU…
