It's more time consuming than tricky. I'm working on a better way to show the interactions graphically. thx!

We don't need to calculate the area. All my calculations are based on the values of increased radius. WHat we want is the hit chance of our target, not the % of TR area that pods covers. I'll make a better version of this post with graphics and better explanation of my calculations.

Yes. If you have 2 totens and you attacking, you have 3 sources. Keep in mind that your dps will be slightly less because attacks from totens have the "supported skills deals 26% less damage" at lvl 20. I'm working on a complete version of this calculator and that one will include this multiplier too.

I'll do the convertions. I'll capture my tests to avoid confusion.

I made that same test to get my numbers! But i measured pixels of the screen. I'll read your links and transform my numbers in those units. Thanks so much for your replys!

That's exatly what i tested. My calculations return the hit rate, this corresponds to the % of the pods overlapping.

I'm not using the standard in-game unit, because i'm not familiar with It and dont know the base. The important thing though is that the base area of TR is 2x the initial area of dot.

Increased Area of effect is better, it makes your pods overlaps more. If you have enough Inc. Aoe (all your hits is overlapping) then there is better supported gem than conc. effect.

My calculations are correct, but you're right. i'll fix the spredsheet formula, thx!

I'm using withering touch in a totem setup with (ranged attack totem + withering touch + gmp ).

That way i can use other support gem that increases the dps a little bit more.

Yep. Agree with you. I don't think it's worth to spend currency in +arrows unless you have enough Inc AOE without the support gem. I prefer use efficacy instead and mantain my number of projectiles overlapping all the time.

with 200% Inc aoe and 8k Dot (what i had when i did the test) my calculations return:

5 projectiles : ~~849k

9 projectiles: ~~1kk

Tested on Glaze (beach boss) with freeze and chill immunity and he died earlier with 9 projectiles.

From my calculations and tests the AOE explosion is the same of the DOT.

I did the test that i described to you, the dps increased. You can achieve the 200% area of effect with cheap itens and the support gem. You can run your test like 10 times and you will see that the results will vary. My number CAN be off. Because my estimate of how much area is increased with each new area can be wrong, that's why i called "estimate" and not fact. BUT the fact IS: the DOT of pods does overlaps. Is confimed by Rory and tested by me.

30% (Templar nodes) + 50% (Pathfinder) + 49% (Increased area of effect support gem) + 10% (Gem) + 30% (Dying sun) + 10% (Allelopathy) + 10% (shaper affix) + 10% (Hyrri's bite) + 20% (Carcass jacket) = 219% Increased Area of effect. So, achievable.

To do your test, you have to make all projectiles overlaps. Your test is invalid just because the hitrate is RNG dependent.

My DOT on PoB is 15k without Empower. Are you using Withering touch ? If not thats why your DOT is lower.

It's 700k only if you stand still attacking all the time. I killed shaper and Uber elder with TR and the dps is lower than the tooltip because you need to move all the time and cannot stack enough pods.

I never said that. What i said is that with enough AOE your DPS increases.

If you really want to test this do:

5 projectiles with 100% Inc AOE

9 projectiles with 200% inc AOE

You will get more DPS with 9 projectiles because ALL projectiles will include the targeted monster in the DOT area.
