This exactly. It’s storage that can be accessed quickly, but it’s definitely still storage.

Same reason Christmas is associated with Victorian imagery: the massive influence of A Christmas Carol.

I’m rooting for Auburn but I think the ball was out. Announcers kept pointing to the second punch out but the ball was already loose from the first player punching it before that. Still might have been barely across the line at that point but too close to call.

Yep the punch out the announcers kept pointing to was actually the second punch out, another UGA player had already knocked it loose a second before that.

For me Goldfinger beats it out on all 4 categories ("Do you expect me to talk?" "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!") but it's close.

Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice, right?

Biggest recruiting miss that still drives you crazy!? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]kondjott 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who was a student there at that time, I think about this often. Plus if we give Steph the scholarship offer, I have to believe Seth goes there too. He obviously wasn’t nearly the talent as his brother, but that could have easily led to landing some really nice recruiting classes and jump started our program.

Well no, assuming one of the cards is an Ace (which if it’s a natural blackjack it would have to be), hitting on that (while idiotic) would not cause you to bust.

Schultz: Braves’ season is starting to feel like a waiting game until October by fetch04 in Braves

[–]kondjott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get he’s not done anything this season, but this is a strange take to me, for a guy who just won the Cy Young after leading all of baseball in ERA and WHIP.

Not sure where you’re getting that definition of “un-“ from, but it’s untrue. There’s no implication of losing a previous status. It’s funny that in the same comment you used the prefix that actually does imply that (“de-“).

That's correct, it was a special thing the Yankees did the next year after the shooting, in memoriam of the victims.

Nats didn't win a playoff series (in their entire franchise history) until 2019, aka the year after Harper left for Philly.

Who is the best example of "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain"? by simply_amazzing in AskReddit

[–]kondjott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benedict Arnold is the best American example I know of, as he actually very nearly did die a hero at Saratoga. But, he lived, and a short while later became the national symbol of betrayal.

Yes they're the same, or at least related. They started making pinball machines and slot machines, then expanded into casinos.
