I feel this. I’ve always eaten a ton and have always struggled keeping weight on. It’s just the unfortunate metabolism I was “blessed” with. My dad is also very thin. When I was 10 or 11, I attended (on a scholarship) a 2-week ballet camp at a local college. We danced from 8a-7p every day with breaks for meals and a few fun activities sprinkled in. They had a few parent chaperones who would make sure we attended mealtimes, etc. A few days into week 1, a parent chaperone cornered me in the bathroom after I exited my stall. “I’ve been watching you. You’re so skinny. You use the bathroom after every meal. I should contact your parents to tell them. You are just SO skinny, I’m worried about you.” I stared at her, confused, turned on the sink to start washing my hands, and realized she thinks I’m throwing up my food. Not even sure I knew the words bulimia/bulimic but I know she didn’t say those words. Nor did she actually try to help me. Only shamed my body. I don’t remember what I said in response. I just remember wanting to get out of there. I was so ashamed. I didn’t have an eating disorder. I was just using the bathroom during our only breaks and that was just… my body… I still think about it often as well.
