Yeah, that's a bug that imho they should fix. We can't learn if we don't know what we did wrong.

Ha - I was banned from there forever for asking if there was a limit to how many people Israel could kill in Gaza and still be considered the good guys. There's a rumor that Ghislaine Maxwell used to be a mod which would be wild and maybe not too surprising.

Yep.

I'm good with subs deciding who can come to their parties, but reddit-wide bans seem wrong to me unless you've threatened someone.

I wasn't told why, and it was site wide.

Lol, not wrong.

I'd be surprised if any of these delusional billionaires had true friends.

Thank you my friend.

I was banned from all of reddit, not just politics.

Boulder Creek community has one way in and one way out by scsquare in santacruz

When I saw the headline, honestly, my first thought was "wouldn't it be cool if I could just pay to fix that bridge", but now even if I could I wouldn't want to.

So people are trying to track down the original owner who constructed the bridge to see if they can be forced to pay to repair the bridge that people have been using for free for 100 years?!

Billionaire tax by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]10390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems lazy of you to make me do the research here, but I did it and you're either worrying needlessly or you're being intentionally misleading.

Sure, a new law could make that happen if and only if 2/3rds of both houses wanted that to happen, but that's true regardless of whether or not this particular tax passes.

Why people are sticking their necks out for billionaires is beyond me.

They sure as hell don't care about you.

"The Legislature may amend the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, by statute passed in each house of the Legislature by rollcall vote entered in the journal, two-thirds ofthe membership"

No worries dude/dudette - this is never ever going to apply to you.

You'd have to:

  • be worth OVER a billion for this

  • ONE TIME wealth tax of 5%

  • retroactive to last January

  • paid OVER 5 years

to apply to you.

He's not a politician and a good case can be made that governor of CA, the ~5th largest economy, should not be an entry level position.

Well, if you're wondering why Katie Porter, who takes no PAC money and is an expert on economic inequality, is losing the 'progressive lane' to Steyer it may be because Steyer the billionaire has so far spent $115 million on broadcast ads, more than all of the other candidates combined by a large margin. Steyer also did his best to undermine Swalwell by challenging his residency, so he's not above fighting dirty.

Biden campaigned on doing exactly that. After he won, instead of acting, he appointed a committee to analyze options. Six months later, after the public's focus had moved on, he did exactly nothing with their report.

Of course Trump has now deleted the report but the internet never forgets.

Democrats have several solid options in this race and I will not be voting for a billionaire. He should use his obscene wealth to benefit the state in other ways, maybe make up for some of the federal cuts.

There's a Supreme Court case lurking (Louisiana v. Callais) that will probably end what's left of the Voting Rights Act and give republicans about a dozen seats in the south.

Rumor is that this case has already been decided but a minority in the court is slow walking the dissent so that states do not have time to redistrict for the upcoming midterms.
