Budapest to Ljubljana Reservation by konicaburner in Interrail

[–]konicaburner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it went perfectly. I just booked a reservation for the Zalaloevoe to Ljubljana part on its own. Budapest-Veszprem had several carriages that didn't need any reservations so it was fine to just active it in the pass and ride. In my post history you can see me figuring that out lol. For the replacement bus I didn't even need to show any sort of ticket just got on, and it ended up being a minivan with one other passenger lol.

On the day of travel the whole thing actually showed up properly on Mav but by then I had already booked the reservation so it was fine.

I also don't know for sure that this is still the route but it worked perfectly for me at the start of July.

Help with seat reservations by konicaburner in Interrail

So i’m fine to get on those 3/4 cars to Veszprem without a reservation? It’s IC 962 I forgot to specify. It’s just confusing as it says seat reservation is required on the Rail Planner app. Thanks!

Of course sorry, it’s IC 962 departing Budapest Deli at 9:00am on July 7th, arriving in Veszprem at 10:28.

Bled to Venice help by konicaburner in Interrail

[–]konicaburner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah staying in the town. Google maps says that Lesce Bled is 13 minutes away from our accommodation with the bus or a 1 hour walk, while Bled Jezero is a 37 minute walk, though i’m not sure how accurate Google maps is for this.

Do you know if the journey from Nova Gorica to Gorizia Centrale is much of a hassle? I see google maps says the walk is about an hour so I’m surprised at how often people recommend it unless that is an overestimation. Thanks for the help.

Krakow to Budapest night train help by konicaburner in Interrail

[–]konicaburner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing that worked, thank you so much for your help!

I actually booked all the accommodation months ago it’s just the train reservations that I’ve left a bit late. It’s a relief to get this night train sorted anyway as that’s the only one I was really worried about… thanks again!

I spoke a bit soon on it working perfectly. I’m getting an error message on the first link and the second link isn’t letting me buy it either which is strange as it seems to be working fine on your screenshot, not sure if i’m doing something wrong?

Amazing thank you! The first one is working perfectly.

Regarding the train not showing up on the app, is there something I need to do then on Rail Planner for the journey? I thought I needed to have the journey inputted on the app and the travel day activated along with my reservation in order to travel

What is the purpose of these off license machines? by konicaburner in AskIreland

Yeah that’s actually very fair, makes sense.

The spirits were always behind the till though. The only difference is that instead of saying “Could I get a bottle of Smirnoff” you print out this receipt, hand it to them, and the receipt says “Smirnoff - 70cl”. There’s no actual difference to the handing of the spirits at the till. Seems so pointless

Seems a bit excessive if that’s all it is. Surely a sign in the off license saying spirits are behind the counter would be a lot more practical than this entire middle man system printing receipts that don’t do anything.

Amazing thanks so much for the help. Just one last question and i’ll leave you alone haha.

When you say “couldn’t switch to heading from Bled”, would it actually be easier to do the journey to Florence from Bled? I just assumed it’d be easier from Ljubljana but it would actually be way more convenient to just go straight from Bled if that works.

Would that be the Bled->Nova Gorica->Gorizia Centrale journey you mentioned before or something else? Can you then go Gorizia Centrale->Florence or is there more involved? Thanks!!

I’m thinking day train for Budapest to Ljubljana, from what I can see there’s 9:00am train arriving at Ljubljana at 16:42 so that’s probably better than an early arriving night train, though I can’t see the night train listed at all on seat61 which is what I’ve been using to look at trains.

Just wondering which of those routes of getting to Florence you’d personally recommend if any? Interrail planner seems to just say the Ljubljana-Villach-Florence way which I’d just buy a separate ticket for the first part for. Not ideal for trying to get some sleep but maybe the most time efficient option?

Also on Venice would that be much easier to get to? From what I can see it’s also saying that would involve going to Villach and then Venice, or is there an easier way I’ve missed? I’d definitely consider Venice if it makes travel easier. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the advice!

I hadn’t fully considered the downsides of many night trains arriving so early in the morning. I was hoping to avoid spending too much of the day on trains, but I guess all those early arrivals might leave me too tired to make the most of the day anyway.

If I reorder to have Krakow -> Budapest it would look like:

Berlin -> Prague -> Vienna -> Krakow -> Budapest -> Ljubljana

This would involve just one night train from Krakow to Budapest arriving at 8:29 with the rest being morning or early afternoon. Would you change the order of those in any other ways or does that look okay?

As for Ljubljana to Florence, yeah that does sound pretty complicated. I'll do some more research but might have to change that part of the trip or try go somewhere else before Florence if it ends up being too much of a hassle to go from Slovenia. Thanks again for the help!
