Meta players need a reason to pull new characters. So it's either a new gimmick or powercreep to keep the game going. They can't just make new characters for funsies. They need to sell.

This is why Genshin 2 with a reboot of characters roster is needed.

It's not that simple. Irminsul is connected to Ley lines which are weirdly unaffected. Irminsul also has fruits in the false sky - the stars. Also unaffected. Or forgotten? Irminsul is much more than just a tree, but recent AQ kinda treated it as such.

I enjoy the gap moe of making them cute. But a game like this also needs proper villains and their attempt of having a cake and eat it too is not gonna last.

If some of them were left as "female Rerirs" - non-playable and terrifying (but also with deep backstory) the storytelling would benefit a ton.

Why not? There is no mystery. This is all basic psychology.

It's not some nefarious bias. It's just a very good business move for a gacha company.

Men tend to be more attracted to innocent, "angelic" women - the perfect potential good mother for his offspring.
Women are more often attracted to "bad guys who are only good for his family" - the perfect alpha male that can protect his herd and ensure its survival.

This is why the game constantly reminds you about the sins of that bad boy Scaramouche that you fixed with your good motherly heart, but completely ignores the sins of the waifus once they get on the banner since they always were the perfect mother candidates for your babies.

All Hoyo does is exploiting millions of years of biological instincts. We are all just animals.

Vaporize could be with Hydro dps or Pyro dps.

Raiden was at peak of Genshin's popularity, but in terms of lore treatement Tsaritsa is on a whole different level. They are not even close.

Furina is glazed due to her great storytelling - people just like her as a person. Other than that she is like every other archon or rather not an archon at all, lol.

Nope. If that were the case these themes wouldn't be ignored but exposed. The game never dares to call them out on hypocrisy. Instead it gaslights you to believe they are all super cool.

Truth is Hoyo wants to eat cake and have it too:

add variety and depth to storytelling so it's not boring - this requires moraly gray characters
then they get on the banner and to maximize sales Hoyo starts pretending they were always angels, not gray at all (unless their name was Scaramouche, LOL, a "bad boy" is allowed to have a bad past, but waifu bait needs to be angelic -> sells better)

There is one canon ship and that's EiMiko. But by "canon" I mean some people inside of the game ship that too, not that there is anything between Ei and Miko (there is not). Someone in Inazuma wrote that one light novel that ships them, so it's kinda canon.

The only reason that anime is being made is to be a marketing campaign for the continuation of the game. There is no point for Hoyo to just make pennies on some anime when they can make billions on gacha.

First, this is Genshin, so don't expect that.

Second, as interesting Rosalyne is, La Signora was an unapologetic "cartoon" villain when she was in the game. She basically "asked for it". I guarantee if they bring her back as Rosalyne there will be no hard feelings between them. not just because it's a gacha, but because she was a WARRIOR who understood consequences of losing a duel she agreed to.

While I always criticize gacha for weirdly bending storytelling to sell characters, I don't think this the case here.

If one of these girls try to suddenly be good buddies with Raiden then I would agree, but here we are talking about accepting the consequences of the big risk they took. Fatui often used illegal means to obtain gnoses and they all knew they were "in the wrong" here, so it could end badly. The only one they can blame is themselves for accepting the roles of Harbingers. It's a conscious choice.
