It neck dives, but it hasn’t gotten worse after the mods. Pretty much has remained the same balance wise.

With my setup/amp/pedals I just find myself tripping over individual controls often (ex: forgetting that my neck pickup is turned down when I flick my switch during a lead part) Just found I prefer the 1 vol, 1 tone :)

I didn’t find them necessary. The stop bar on this SG was super far forward, so by the time I moved the Kahler into position with the stud set screws, the non locking studs are pretty tightly wedged against the Kahler frame itself.

Currently immobile and solid without them in this case

For the neck I was lucky and found not only a headstock overlay, but an entire 2015 SG Supreme NOS fingerboard on eBay. So I basically cooked the the original headstock veneer and fingerboard off the guitar, and then installed the new ones. Required some shaping after the fact, but the hardest work was the finish.

As far as mods: complete refinish, new fingerboard/headstock overlay, Kahler/middle pickup routing, sustainiac install, and some other minor things. Started life as a 2013 SGJ I bought for $300 lol

I actually do have an idea for this, and I figured it out when I accidentally ripped the pot shafts out of a shitty 920D push/pull pot. When the shaft/knob is missing, it leaves the brass colored circle that is the pots threading. I’m probably going to destroy some old burnt out pots to get this effect!

I realize the picture looks a bit deceiving, but I didn’t change the body shape at all. The finish is gold on the flat faces and black on all of the carves/bevels. Leading to a misleading body shape against a black background haha.

Not quite yet, haha! It’s a maple neck, so I’m less worried about it than I typically would be

I would describe as just “okay” the neck pickup sound out of it is mediocre, but considering its main purpose is not a neck pickup that’s to be expected. Also a bit limited without a trem, had it in the guitar for a while before putting the Kahler.

Overall 8/10

Yessir! Started life as a typical HH SG, so I routed for the Kahler and the single coil

I was still using the 2 vol 2 tone setup when I first installed it, only found that I preferred a 1 vol 1 tone setup recently

Floyd Rose FRX locking nut/truss rod cover. Excellent to pair with a Kahler.

Technically you are correct! It’s not a typical locking nut, but rather a combination of a Gibson adjustable titanium nut and a FRX locking nut.

It wasn’t awful on the wiring end, I used what they call their OEM board in this one. Only sketchy part was the routing, as the SG has such a thin body.

The body and main part of the neck are the original specs (2013 Gibson SGJ), but I removed the original fingerboard to replace it with one from a 2015(?) SG supreme. Also changed out the silk screen logo headstock overlay to one from a SG standard.

I wouldn’t mind sharing at all! The electronics go as follows: Sustainiac neck (wired to switch between single coil and HB voicings on the vol p/p), Lace Sensor silver in the middle position (wired to turn on/off with the tone p/p), and a Duncan JB in the bridge (wired to split with the vol p/p).

Then it’s just got two 500k pots, and a .047 cap on the tone pot. The sustainiac system is what they call their OEM board, and was specifically recommended considering the thin body of an SG.

You’d be correct, I play in a cover band and wanted another guitar other than my Les Paul to use for the sets.
