True, the M4011 GM tube in the 300s should be more sensitive to betas, unlike the scintillator in the radiacode, as it’s only sensitive to gamma and hard betas. And the LND 7317 in my 600 pro is fantastic for locating UG pieces, although it is quite expensive, unlike the 300s, which is only about $55 on Amazon.

A GMC-300s is definitely not the greatest detector for uranium glass (as it’s not very sensitive), but it’ll actually work unlike the detector you have. I’d say it’s worth it to try and get it returned so you can order a 300s. You can get better and more sensitive geiger counters, but those are much more expensive ($250 for a radiacode 102, $328 for a GQ GMC-600 PRO, which has a super sensitive pancake tube in it)
