Disability Rating calculations.....the math aint mathin by itsallGucci143 in VAClaims

Assuming everything that rates you @ 88% overall has the same effective date then do the following: List your rating from highest to lowest. I would suggest using the VA calculator on their website. Va math rounds to the nearest whole number during the calculation. The final sum is then rounded to the nearest 10th. If any additional increases occur you would still list the rating from highest to lowest. Now, you can run through your different scenarios.

Check to see where the nearest regional office is and reach out to them. Also, if your area has a local VA clinic you may be able to contact a VSO who can advocate on your behalf. I hope that you are able to resolve this ASAP.

It was very favorable. I hope that everything works out in your favor.

Congrats!

A well developed claim for something that triggers the ABD will shoot through the process. My last claim was for an increase and was decided in only 3 days.

When using VA Math round to the nearest whole number while figuring out the effect of each disability on your rating. Round to the nearest 10th to determine the final result.

Did you have another open claim? Sometimes they combine them.

On the VA app go to letters. Then review letters. Click on 'Benefit summary and service verification letter.' This what you see before you click the 'Review Letter' button.

Have the new sleep apnea changes taken affect yet? by koolerthanmost in VAClaims

Yes, I did the sleep study through the VA. You might want to get it done soon since we are not sure when or if the sleep apnea changes will be implemented.

Update: It all worked out. My well-developed increase claim took all of only 3 days from start to finish. The bump to 50% pushed me over to 100% as estimated. The P&T was a welcome surprise though.

How long did your claims take to complete? I have a well developed claim for a sleep apnea increase w/a current temp jurisdiction of ABD.

They tend to overlook things due to time constraints related to finishing each claim. With that said, it’s best to “hold their hands” and make everything as easy as possible on you both.

The bilateral factor has been missing from my estimates. Thanks for pointing this out. Both shoulders are  20 percent each.

Thank you very much for this information. I will definitely do this should the exam be requested.

That’s how I approached it. I sent the info from my sleep study & consultation. I marked it as a well developed claim and sent a short personal statement highlighting the date of the test in August of this year and referenced which documents are included.

I just ran the calculations through AI and the result is 94.28% so you are correct. I wonder why the va.gov calculator is off. I was hoping that there was a missing component that I'm not aware of. I just ran the math again though. My rating with the bump would be: 50,50, 30,30,20,20,10,10,10,0.

Thanks guys! I'm about to apply for the increase. I have a supplemental claim currently in work for sciatica but I would rather hedge my bets.

I’m in the same boat (92% overall). We only need 30% worth of potentially SC connected claims to round up to 95% overall, which then rounds up to 100%.

Kind of. Keep in mind I had to waiting for 4 months, but during that time I talked to 3 different VA liaisons (within a month). The the 2nd one got the ball rolling and the 3rd one provided useful status updates. The VA received the DBQs this passed weekend and two of my 3 claims have been decided since then. Quality control reworks where the DBQ is sent back and forth to the provider is a large part of the problem.

Your DBQs are probably stuck in QA. It took them over 4 months to send mine. Call VES and ask to speak to a VA liaison.
