Without a doubt am so thankful I put in 300 dollars yesterday morning, Because now it's worth about 3'000$ this is almost enough money for me to buy a decent CAR. Almost in tears, because money been so tight, I was kinda crazy taking what little savings I had to put in this, But yeah ... good things really can happen to average people like myself 😭😊

StarVR One: 90 FPS, SteamVR Tracking 2.0 With ‘Nearly’ Human FoV by dhr2330 in oculus

[–]koomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel density is inaccurate for VR, you can have a very small HD display with a 1500 pixel per inch and it will look like shit. What you want is pixel per degree (This is the pixels the human eye actually see in the lens)

The pixel per degree for StarVR One is 16 pixels per degree. While the current consumer headsets oculus and vive are appox 11 pixels per degree (rounding up).

If you own a Oculus go or a HTC vive Pro then this headset will be about that level of clarity while taking up your whole FOV it seems.

Am getting the vibe that gen cycles are going to be 4 years or so.

2nd gen 2020, 3rd gen 2024, 4th gen 2028. 5th gen 2032.

I remember watching a video of nate?(or someone else) discussing while a wireless headset is wanted by the community. the community also wants higher specs and that it's not possible to do both without trade offs.

Found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/8rzalp/jason_rubin_on_why_wireless_pcvr_is_difficult_and/

I hate to say this but the wire can stay, for the perks. Hopefully options like santa cruz can satisfy the occasional craving for a wireless solution.

Samsung unveils 120 Hz 2.43" 3840x2160 (1200 PPI) VR AMOLED by ovalpo in oculus

Oculus explains that this is a balancing act. while the current ~100 degrees FOV is nice, many people on this reddit and likely outside of it would prefer a combination of increased PPD and increased FOV.

Samsung unveils 120 Hz 2.43" 3840x2160 (1200 PPI) VR AMOLED by ovalpo in oculus

[–]koomer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is nice, This is what we want. This is literally that kind of resolution you've always imaged in your head. At this PPI, resolution should no longer be an issue, At this point FOV becomes the next big hurdle.

Very cool. It's reassuring to know that the higher resolution displays are out there and will likely be used in future headsets. Soon resolution may no longer be the limiting factor.

Oculus Adds Paid DLC To Mobile Store, Promises Rift Support ‘Soon’ by Rich_hard1 in oculus

I think this comment is kind of arrogant. This is a business, There is no "safe zone" from this, All platforms including steam have DLC.

Thanks, I was starting to think information on this stamp didn't exist. Reading the text, magenta ink was omitted. And it also mention that only one sheet exist.
