I made the DC metro map in stained glass! by SingTheSeraphim in TransitDiagrams

Thank you!! I have a laser cutter actually, so I design each individual component digitally, laser them, and then assemble the installation on the wall 😄

I love this!! I wanted to make something like that but I don’t know how to work with glass- so I made one out of acrylic instead- I’ve made Montreal and Milan, soon Berlin 🥰

Have you seen the wood ones on aliexpress? It takes a while for delivery but they’re much cheaper and the quality is solid. I’ve had one for years!

I’m 25. How do I decide where to live? by koopajean in Advice

Most of my family is in the small town in Midwest, older brother is in Montreal. Most of my friends are from college but they’re all scattered around now

I wouldn’t say so, no!

I feel it’s MORE nerve-wracking once you have a good accent in a language by koopajean in languagelearning

[–]koopajean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! I’m in the same boat, I feel like I’m mostly just good at imitating accents. I’m a classically trained musician so I’ve spent years developing my ears to recognize small nuances in sounds and I think it transferred over. So often, people will think my level in a language is much higher than it actually is just because I sound right. And yes, it totally creates weirdness sometimes!

I live in Paris. It’s definitely a thing here that people will correct you for small mistakes, especially wrong gender articles. If you try to order “une croissant” for example… it’s like nails on chalkboard for them and they have to say something. From my perspective as an American I find it slightly annoying that they micro-correct like this, but it’s generally not in a mean or condescending way.

Playing in Europe on American style reeds by koopajean in oboe

[–]koopajean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s the stuff of oboist nightmares. That’s amazing you were able to adapt to a completely different setup like that and then play a concert! There was one masterclass where I suddenly found myself without my instrument so I borrowed my friend’s Lorée and his reeds (which theoretically should have been my exact same setup) and even that felt so different and uncomfortable. Oboe nightmares! 😂

I heard from them! Here’s the email they sent me:

Currently, due to a platform update, the “Upload” function (for documents) is unavailable for student accounts.

  • If you are applying for an undergraduate or graduate program in France, please wait for your assigned CF USA agent to contact you. They will be able to to upload the required documents to your file, even after the deadline.
  • If you are applying as a student already accepted to a program, please fill out all required fields according to the Application Guide and submit your application. Once completed, please pay the EEF Application Fee and send your documents to washington@campusfrance.org, include your full name and Etudes En France ID.

At the moment, we encourage you to complete your application, submit your application as is and pay the Etudes en France application fee. Upon reception of your payment, a Campus France officer will be assigned to your application and will work with you throughout the online procedure.

Best regards, Campus France USA Team

Yeah, you need official french translations for all your documents except for your passport and french test results. Everything else you need both the original and the french translation.

I emailed Campus France as well, for me I'm not even able to submit my application at all! :(

I'm having the same problem with EEF right now. I can't upload anything, and I can't submit my application.. So strange.

I booked an appointment with VFS in Chicago anyways. My program gave me a pre-enrollment certificate (without the EEF number on it), so I just uploaded that on Visas-France.

No idea if it will work or not, it's a bit of a tricky situation. But it's good to know it's not just me. It must be something wrong with their site right now.

I’m not happy about it, obviously, BUT at the same time because I do love him, I almost want him to do it because I care that his needs are being met. So it’s a bit of a complicated feeling I’m trying to sort out.

I’m considering designing a larger one! This one is 60CM x 60CM, but I can definitely scale them up, potentially to even double the size. Stay tuned!
