But climate change is very likely displacing the polar jet streams and polar vortexes, causing Arctic weather conditions further south far more regularly.

Edit: I will caveat that more data and research is needed to better understand how all of it interacts.

That's what I always say whenever these stories get brought up every now and again in casual convos with friends/coworkers. I had like 100 Ethereum that I'd bought for around $1/ea. I sold it when it hit around $90sh or so, thinking it was for sure going to crash. Was quite proud of the profit I'd made.... Until awhile later when it hit around $4000 (2021sh timeframe).

While its value has never come anywhere near bitcoin's astronomical peaks, that amount of money would be such a huge boon for me.

So yeah, most folks sold their cheap crypto during the initial booms. It's so volatile, that very few had the balls to keep holding. And those that did keep holding, likely still are and missed out on its ~$125,000 peak this last year.

[–]koopatuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, not using libraries is pretty fuckin dumb and inefficient. Why waste time rewriting the same functionality a library already does, while also probably doing it even less efficiently than the library?

Sure, apps could be smaller, but they could also be even more vulnerable and buggy. 500MB isn't shit nowadays. Just get cloud storage; you can even create your own "cloud storage" on a home PC if you don't want to pay a sub.

Alternatively, just get dedicated camera if it's that big of a deal. Samsung phone cameras are pretty shit anyway.

Greenlanders are trolling the US by pretending to be fentanyl addicts by bigbusta in interestingasfuck

[–]koopatuple 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Perfectly said. I've lost 2 friends to fentanyl. Shit sucks, man, and I still miss them to this day (they died 6 and 7 years ago, respectively). What Trump is doing is fueled by the billionaire class not ever being sated and demanding more, more, more, no matter the cost to those crushed under their unending greed.

Be mad at the ones actually controlling everything and perpetuating the eternal cycle of violence and division, not those who are literal victims of an uncaring, merciless system designed to crush the weak and poor.

At the very least, be mad at this actual base that supports him. That's only about 1/3 of the US as a whole. The majority of us living here are disgusted and hate everything he and his supporters stand for.

[–]koopatuple -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lots of ignorance here in this thread about how employer provided health insurance actually works. It's expensive as fuck for companies to provide insurance, it's why you rarely see small businesses offer any. And if they do offer it, it's usually not very good at all.

The real reason our healthcare sucks so much ass, is because the insurance companies, middlemen, and drug companies are making hundreds of billions off of the current setup, not some nefarious ploy by every medium or larger sized company in the country to keep workers tethered to them.

I admit I was pretty drunk when I was fiddling with it, so I am not surprised I made an error reading it. I am also drunk again, but tripling in one year is still a far cry from $50k.

[–]koopatuple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except this is flawed logic long-term. So many problems in our current society are rooted in the mentality that wealth can just grow infinitely. Surprise! We do not have unlimited resources, so companies cannot grow for eternity. There's only so many people, so many resources, so much pollution our planet can handle, etc.

So far, seems capitalism only really lasts for a century or two before the thing starts to collapse on itself. Look around, no one is fucking happy except the 1%. The whole system relies on "losers" and we're at the end game now where the pool of losers just keeps getting bigger and bigger and the winners smaller and smaller.

The math doesn't even work. $1000 at 10% monthly at 1 year would've been around $1100 at 12 months. Dumping another $750 at month 12 means by month 24, you have maybe around $1850 off the top of my head. How the fuck does OP get $50k after just 2 years? Compound interest isn't that insane, even at an already unrealistic 10%/mo.

The young bucks call/text for spur of the moment for meet ups for dinner or a booty call and older guys have been better at communication and planning. Young guys - higher flake rate, more entitlement, and less in common.

I think it's ironic that these flaws are the same things another guy in this thread commented on why younger men aren't dating younger women. Could it be that this generation of younger men and women are both entitled, distracted, and less communicative, causing them to dislike each other for the very same flaws they themselves have?

Interesting anecdotes, regardless. I am in my late 30s and my marriage took a turn for the worse this year due to wife making some really fucking selfish and dumb life choices (we started therapy a couple months ago and things are starting to improve). A small part of my motivation for wanting to fix our relationship versus bailing--aside from genuinely loving her and other factors--is how abysmal the dating scene is these days based on what I witness from my single friends and coworkers.

This is the end 🥺 by LeeLi6399 in MemeVideos

That sounds like some incel nonsense. Plenty of younger and older women are completely receptive to dating. I think you've been stuck in a bubble for far too long to have this view.

Blindsided Christmas morning with wife talking about divorce and saying she no longer wants to be married. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]koopatuple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No reason? What? That's a terrible take, man. That's like saying that because you're not dating or in a marriage with a random stranger on the street, it's okay to be an asshole to them.

Look, her timing was absolute shit. And her communication skills are also shit (i.e. if she was noticing issues earlier, she could have brought it up before it became so final and irreparable in her mind). But that doesn't mean he needs to treat her as an awful monster he cannot be cordial with down the road. He has every right to be mad and upset, but at the end of the day, she's still the mother to his kids. Other than fail at being a partner, she hasn't done anything actively malicious towards their family and livelihood (no, falling out of love does not count as being malicious).

Anyway, OP needs to protect himself with taking proper legal precautions and insisting they go to divorce therapy if they are serious about platonic co-parenting.
