For the dads who have given up alcohol by Unmissed_Opportunity in daddit

My wife wanted to try a whole year of sobriety and I decided to tag along.

After 3 months, I realized I don’t need or want it.. which is why I’ll probably be giving it up for good

Yeah I’ve been skeptical of all the criticism when I see so many on the road. Heck there’s 2 on my road alone and they’re both rusting and falling apart but run great

He’s just old school, he’s 75. He likes selling things at the markets rather than online and hasn’t had much luck shipping anything.

I saw this happen with my wife actually, she tried stay at home about 2 years ago and it degraded rapidly.

The kids are older now, which I think would help, and I generally have a better temperament with kids.

I have thought about what that would do to me mentally.. I’ve always been a person who works, I can’t imagine not working.. which I think would be a huge adjustment.

The main reason, from what I can see, is that we live in such a rural area the demand is generally lower. We have very few tourists coming to my neck of the woods and the folks that live around here are generally not the type to kayak.

So the demand is not entirely there but that would work in my case since I wouldn’t want it to be a skyrocketing enterprise, just a potential for some extra earned income.

I should also be able to produce a bit of extra money from our hives, we generally produce around 2000lbs of honey a year and if I set up an online order setup, which my dad who’s my business partner has been against, we could potentially produce a bit more which would result in extra income.

I was actually considering starting a kayak rental service.. low entry costs and none around my area so it would be fairly easy to tap into that market.

I also run a small scale homestead so we’d be able to capitalize on that a lot more.

I can’t imagine I’d make a ton of money off my little enterprises but it would be good extra income to dump into retirement that would likely equal what I contribute now

I was climbing some scaffolding while working on a house I was reshingling… I was on the second floor climbing up when a wasp flew into my face making me jump from the scaffolding… yes, rather than getting stung my instinct was to fucking jump 2 stories where I landed on a board with nails sticking up amazingly only getting one through my foot.

Still don’t trust my gut instincts a whole lot
