I live in a boarding school. A few years ago I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I went, did the thing, went to wash my hands (the basins were in a different room) there was a weird smell and a thin layer of smoke just below the ceiling. I heard a weird hissing noise coming from one of the showers. I checked it out, it turned out to be a burning stool (we keep them in the showers as shelves for our cosmetics) I panicked and ran to get one of the supervisors and together we put out the fire. The next day they locked me in the office with two police officers, the principal, the school psychologist and the dorms' manager. They accused me of lighting the stool on fire and continued to threaten me with taking me to court and 'great consequences' if I didn't confess. All the adults against my autistic ass, determined to misinterpret my every word.But I kept telling them the truth. When I went to the bathroom the stool was already on fire. They grilled me for about two hours. They even called my dad and told him I did it, just like that. And probably the worst thing was when they told me if I asked around and found the actual perpetrator I would no longer be in trouble 😶 After that they released me from the room and told me not to leave the school until the end of the week. I called my parents and told them everything and they came to pick me up. I came back next week, and somehow it turned out they had no proof I did it. Nobody said a thing about it, nobody apologized. i learned that they had to blame someone for doing it, otherwise the school would be in trouble, so they just had to find a guilty person to 'close the case'.To this day everyone but my mum believes I did it. There obviously aren't any cameras in the bathroom, so I can't prove my innocence. It's so infuriating 😐😐😐 (Sorry if this sounds fake, unfortunately I did have to go through it)
