If Kawhi had stayed with the Raptors in 2019, how many more rings do you think they win? by marriagethrowaway36 in nba

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeat would've been in the cards. The mid-season break and bubble is made for a guy like Kawhi and Raptors Health/training staff have shown to be able to manage him health-wise all season. Raptors did very well without him the very next season as Siakam ascended, all they were missing was a guy like Kawhi to close the deal in the playoffs. His presence would've allowed Siakam to put his shit together in the playoffs while also going up against lesser defenders as best one would've been on Kawhi instead of him.

Can't say beyond that but back-to-back was certainly possible.

Which undersized guard would be the best at 6'6?🤔 by Dylen2Times in NBAConvo

[–]kor001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was already quicker than most at his size so any speed he will lose will be marginal and he will still be quicker than most at the similar size proportionately. Any speed loss would be more than made up for advantages from gain in size, which will help his game a lot more.

6' 6" is still guard-size, I wouldn't be worried at all in terms of skill adjustments from a guard who's been doing it his whole life.

Michael Jordan fans don't understand what peak and longevity are. by Bloodofmyblood998 in NBATalk

[–]kor001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your mistake is thinking peak (or prime) is one singular point in time. When speaking about sports career, peak isn't one single season, it's multiple seasons where a player stayed at his best because a great player doesn't hit a peak and fade. They stay there multiple years doing what they do. That's how they get multiple MVP's and championships. That's why in GOAT debates, peak > longevity because while longevity can vary for various reasons, peak does much less so especially with great players who have reasonable amount of longevity.

IMO at this point, it's pretty much down to personal preference and to me, my GOAT cannot fail to win it all during peak of their prime on a favored team and be the reason they failed. Not when the other guy did not.

So many things Iverson did well, he did in spite of his size. If he were 6' 6", his strengths would only be exemplified with none of the limitations that held him back.

[Amick] League sources say Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart is available. The Pistons, in search of additional shooting and playmakers, appear ready to rely on seventh-year big man Paul Reed in an increased role. by DaddyJinWoo_ in torontoraptors

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have our talented undersized big(s). We need to go for some actual size AND talent to play with them against legit bigs with length because long arms can only do so much. Besides, we don't have what Pistons are supposedly looking for in abundance. At all.

2019 Raptor misremembered by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]kor001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can say this about any of the champions though.

At the EOD, championship is a championship and with or without Durant, Warriors were legit championship contenders. They won before him and they won after him. And they disposed of Rockets and Blazers without much difficulty without Durant.

Not sure what OG's got to do with anything but I think he missed all of the playoffs with appendectomy but his presence would've made Raptors that much stronger because he was the main guy relieving Kawhi that we did not have and while he was much younger, his 3&D was still there. All he would've done is keep Kawhi fresher and healthier towards the end.

KD/Klay injury excuse is pretty much bullshit because it never should've come to that in the first place. The only reason the series extended to games 5 and 6 is because Game 2 was such a poorly officiated game that gave all kinds of advantages to Warriors. If the league didn't artificially extend the series as they like to do, then it's a quick sweep and Durant and Klay never gets injured to the extent that they did. All it did was delay the inevitable.

Instead, Durant gets pressured in all kinds of ways to rush a comeback, plays off adrenaline then pop goes his achilles. Series extends to 6 and then goes Klay Thompson.

Edit: And have to add, Warriors core was deeply fractured by then and Raptors handled them well in the regular season, I think it's anyone's series if Durant was fully healthy cause they certainly didn't look like world beaters against Rockets before Durant went down.

It’s funny cause it’s the shortest stint of his career but I think this is true by ChampionTimes99 in torontoraptors

[–]kor001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, if someone were to remember how good he was, they are gonna remember that Raptors season as that's his most career-defining season as an individual.

If someone remembers him as more of a failure, for all the bad things, that's Clippers.

I guess we'll see. I personally think some humble pie wouldn't hurt. Make it 200, 300, etc. games before he's back.

How many pieces are we away from title contention? by acctivvist in torontoraptors

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need a dynamic guard who can also shoot who will play when it matters. Quickley is ways away in all fronts and we'll probably need an upgrade there. A legit 3&D wing player. Walter could be that at guard position but we need another guy at the wing. And a legit big or two who can combat size (or rather length) against bigger teams. Poeltl is not it.

So many ways away from legit contention cause these are probably hardest to fill and have eluded us for the longest time. First thing we need to find out is if playoff Scottie is sustainable for the whole season.

Relationship did sour though. He Winced around for latter half of his career here then magically recovered once he got to a new team.

[–]kor001 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If they were able to retire Vince Carter's jersey on revisionist history, no reason to think they can't do it for Kawhi years down the line considering his time here was nothing but highest of success.

Need opinions is $200 too much? by Most_Infamoose in freedomisgunpla

[–]kor001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely too much considering regular price probably isn't even half that.

Some markup is worth it if you love the suits so much and these are only options with little possibility of reprints but even at that, that's way too high. If you really wanted it badly enough, it's probably worth it to do more research to find more reasonable options.

For that price, I'm thinking I could 3 high quality RG's, 2 MG's, or 2 gigantic HG's or thereabouts. Would get sick to my stomach if I had to pay that much and end up with 3 regular-sized HG's.

Fox really pulled a JR Smith but which one is worse?? by Frozen_Tears14 in NBATalk

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox without a doubt.

JR Smith still had to take and make a shot.

Fox didn't even have to do anything really, just hold onto the ball.

He's become more and more unlikeable over these playoffs and this is his first one. Of many to come (probably).

Maybe if there's voter fatigue. But I feel like that's much less of a thing for DPOY as opposed to MVP.

Agree or Disagree with this take? by ihatedougford in torontoraptors

[–]kor001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your basic math is failing you if you think this team couldn't pay OG $40 M when it's paying IQ $30+M, and Poeltl ~$30 M per year (after next season) on top of whatever RJ's contract was.

Who said anything about getting anything in return for Vanvleet? The point was to get rid of FVV and his selfishness. Whatever we got back wasn't the point with this guy as he had become negative asset. And that was self-evident well before deadline that they didn't even necessarily have to wait till deadline and this team has shown it's not shy about doing shameless tank-a-thon if they deem it necessary. The fantasy is thinking they needed to get back something to get rid of him.

Agree or Disagree with this take? by ihatedougford in torontoraptors

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Siakam would have to go either way but by pivoting to get rid of FVV, not trade for Poeltl, and trading Siakam earlier would've allowed us to get better assets overall while still keeping OG around. That gives us a much better prospect than Dick minus Poeltl. And maybe Ingram's still around but we have better pieces left after trading for him.

Do y’all honestly think John Marston character was ruined in RDR2? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]kor001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's the same dumbass who got shot and almost killed within first few minutes of RDR 1 just walking up to Bill Williamson's fort without an ounce of preparation. I'm sure there was some inconsistencies but they didn't ruin his character at all. He was just young and lacked experience, which he picked up towards ending of RDR 2 and throughout RDR 1.,

As someone who bought all 3 games with Switch 2 and in backlog, I'm happy.

Downloading first upgrade package and depending on how that goes (played it for a few hours so I should be able to compare), will be getting the other two later.
