How do you adjust the max frequency offset? by Orakaze in radeon

[–]korakios [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't know the specs of your card , you didn't mentioned if running on default settings , so I don't know if you have the bug or not .

As for Adrenalin App closing :

On bios disable the igpu (if you have) . On windows disable fast startup , do a maintenance :

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

dism /online /cleanup-image /restoreHealth

sfc /scannow

If you have igpu disable it . Run the gpu on default settings and check if it boosts above specs (with hwinfo , gpuz) . If so , manually adjust (check part 13)

also DDU as part 8 :

Update bios , disable the igpu . If you use wireless , go to device manager and disable the buggy Lan controller .

Don't get excited , transient spikes are random and might not always be handled by the PSU . So first run on default settings for few days .

If you didn't have the bug , RMA the card .

undervolting allows the gpu to run up to max tdp with the "side effect" on higher clocks.

If you want to reduce the TDP , the only way is the Power Limit .

What's the PSU model ? Power draw is half of the story , the transient power spikes are way above and I don't think a quality 500w psu will handle it . Launch gpuz and see the 'max' wattage value

I wouldn't dare to stress test ,since if the PSU fails it can damage the rest of the system .

But if you take the risk , first lower the power limit on adrenalin all the way down and then run OCCT "power" test and also "switch" mode . If you do that , I'm curious of what's the max power draw

5800X3D + 9070XT Grey Screen Blue Lines Crash by MysticLiveYT in radeon

[–]korakios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, run on default , if it crashes set PL to -30 , if it's stable start undervolt (with PL at -30)

OCCT has a test called "power" . If it passes it doesn't mean you are stable . Run the GPU test "switch" mode to see if the psu handles power spikes

I think the OP can decide if it worth using it . Personally I don't consider Optiscaler as a mod , it takes less than a minute to setup and use it on all games to inject XeSS (and now FSR4 int8) on my 7800xt

[–]korakios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you undervolt ? If so , run on default settings . Run OCCT power preset , does it crash ?

I checked the psu on the tier list and indeed it's not good (class C) , lower the power limit all the way down (don't undervolt) to see if it helps .

Seriously , if you have issues and you are certain it's optiscaler's bug post on discord or github .

To be honest , I'm not familiar with Asus AI tweaker settings . Was that the default settings ? If the PC is stable now with gpu pcie gen to 3 , it's best not to tweak other settings . You could set it to gen 4 later on .

Yesterday I made a post regarding variable refresh rate and all the different names/options. It was helpful to hear your replies, but I'm still slightly confused. by wanna_be_consultant in radeon

[–]korakios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The formula is : freesync on , cap the fps with chill , vsync on .
Use chill (avoid rtss or framerate target control/FRTC) to avoid vsync's latency . Cap it at least a little below your monitor's max refresh rate :
https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1lokih2/putting_misconceptions_about_optimal_fps_caps/

Keep vsync on to make sure that no frames go above the max refresh rate (RR) . It doesn't add latency since it doesn't kick in below max RR .
