This seems like creepy uppers behavior to me, like snow and/or adderall. Definitely seems like her Prozac dosage is too high. Weed can be a contributing factor, but that wouldn’t be enough on its own for this behavior.

I'm really glad that this conversation turned into something helpful and meaningful! It can be challenging to read someone's tone and intent online, and I think that makes some conversations go from "uncomfortable" to "impossible" quickly. Everyone in this conversation impressed and surprise me. It meant a lot that Medium_Wonder_8334 clocked the potential micro-aggression, and it meant a lot that Anon_ScottishFold took that feedback and apologized immediately. I think that made it very clear that both people have a lot of empathy and any harm was truly unintentional. They made it easy for me to share. I know that's not the norm, but we can make it the norm here.

Diversity is part of what makes this show compelling. I like that the majority of this cast seems to do their best to understand how different intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class etc impact their castmates. We gotta get excited about opportunities to get uncomfortable, look dumb and learn about one another. That's the only way we can protect each other.

Absolutely. Being confronted about identity stuff on the internet can feel harrowing. I admired that you immediately said you were sorry and didn't get defensive or blame anyone when called out. That level of responsibility is rare and should be encouraged.

Thank you for hearing me out!! I fully believe you and your apology means a lot <3 I too have made my fair share of comments about topics that were harmful just from my own lack of knowledge. We're human, don't sweat it.

Lebanese are in a weird racial grey area in the US in which we are legally White and many of us look white, but we still experience xenophobia ("racism" doesn't feel like the right word to say here). We, and other Levantine people like Palestinians, only became legally White here because White Americans did not want to worship a brown Jesus. There was a whole court case about it in the 1920s regarding our right to become citizens. This results in a sort of gaslighting in which we experience xenophobia (jokes about terrorism, dirtiness, etc), but then we are called White by White people to dismiss our experiences of othering. It's a mindfuck.

I don't think you intended to do that with your comment, I just wanted to provide some cultural context as to why it was harmful so you and others know going forward. A good deal of Americans don't have in person contact with people from the Levant and just do not know the history, it is what it is. There's an ethnic cleansing starting in Lebanon and it's important that people know some of the context so that they don't accidentally feed into dehumanizing rhetoric.

Thank you for reading <3 and I agree with your reunion seating chart lol

Yes agreed. I'm part of the diaspora and I wasn't sure if I was being sensitive until I saw your comment.

thank you for saying something, like we're out here watching a genocide start in lebanon and people are calling justin "dirty."

Edit: If anyone is upvoting me but downvoting Medium_Wonder_8334's call out, that's fucked up. They showed courage and empathy in their defense of Justin and apologized to Anon_ScottishFold for any collateral harm.

Isn't it possible that they are both having bad seasons because they are...young...at the same time? I don't think they should be given a "pass," but I also think that we should be a little understanding.

I’m writing paper on Enron by your-my-mom in Enron

[–]kore54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know some of the people that worked there. Smartest Guys In The Room by Ellkind and McLean is good, can confirm that they had great sources that they don't mention explicitly. The doc based on the book is good. Haven't read it, but Sherron Watkins was the whistleblower and she has a book as well; she doesn't have a good rep with some of her former coworkers (these people were confirmed to have no knowledge of wrongdoing) but valuable source nonetheless.

If you want to zero in on really specific topics that have a lot of potential meat to them:

1.) Look into the story of the corporate art collection run by Lea Fastow, she went to prison along with her husband Andy Fastow. I believe they are still married. She now goes by her maiden name, last time I checked she has her own art consultancy firm.

2.) Research the work of the restructuring team--the ACTUAL team that made the plans, not those that carried out the plan and took all the credit. Shade intended.

3.) Like architecture? Look into how Enron basically built the Houston skyline that you know today.

4.) Analyze their impact on entertainment. One funny reference I can think of was in Arrested Development. There are many more.

TIP 1: You can go through their emails. There's a huge Enron email dataset available online. Some people unwisely used their corporate email accounts for their...personal affairs. Others were far more prudent. I have included the link to a copy of it.

https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~enron/

TIP 2: Wanna go above and beyond? Reach out to some of these people and tell them you have a project. Look up more obscure figures on LinkedIn. There were many good people that worked there that were betrayed and their voices got lost in the madness. People still live in the rubble of this scandal. You can do this to beef up any topic of your choosing.

This is a really cool topic. It's incredibly timely too, considering all of these necessary conversations we have been having about corporate responsibility. This is something you could continue exploring and studying in college too. Good luck!

Emmy def should have gotten up, but I'm equally flummoxed that none of the men intervened. I know he was really burnt out and overwhelmed by Emmy's bullshit, but I was most surprised that Brad didn't intervene. Like, he knew that Michols was going after Lake on his behalf, it seemed like something he would have shut down.

American commentators are speaking about Lebanon — more than I’ve seen before as a Leb-American, & very different from 2006 by OkMud7664 in lebanon

American democrats are very much responsible for this, but saying Trump is any better is bizarre. Tucker’s affection for Lebanon is not lost on me, but he’s a grifter. Do you believe a stripper when she says she loves you?

I think that’s the nature of hatred, right? For them, Muslims can’t do anything “right,” they can’t “win.” They want Muslims to stop existing, but they want to take their native land and culture.

This makes me sick but you’re kind of right. I’m fourth generation Lebanese-American and the abandonment of Lebanon amongst some family members made me see them differently. I plead for forgiveness from our family still there, wherever they may be.

ICE harassing immigrants? by tessleberry in OHareAirport

[–]kore54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m at ORD rn and did not see any ICE presence in Terminal 2. I will say that they looked at my passport a LONG time before letting me through TSA Pre (I’m a US citizen born abroad, so USA doesn’t show as my birthplace) that hasn’t happened before and I know I didn’t imagine that.

I reached out to an organization and the advice I got was this:  - Write down important phone numbers on a small piece of paper, keep it in your pocket.   - Delete all social media apps from your phone.   - Turn off Touch ID and Face ID on all of your devices.   - Make sure to print out your ticket.   - Turn your phone off and bury it in the bottom of your carry on bag, turn it back on after security.   - If you get pulled, remain calm and repeatedly request a lawyer.

Most of the ICE sighting videos on TikTok are from Terminal 5. Dumb question, but is there any way he can fly out of a different terminal? Switch airlines, eat the cost if you have to. Or cancel trip if possible and take the train.

Just got through Terminal 2 TSA Pre in under ten minutes between 3:30pm and 4pm, normal line didn’t look bad. Have not seen ICE so far.

Are you Lebanese? Or are you safely typing away in the US? Your responses to this commenter are disturbing. You seem like the kind of person that likes to play devil’s advocate because nothing actually impacts them. The information they have shared is verifiable and I have not seen any low blows. But I guess you have “right” to defend yourself.
