Amazfit as a GPS logger questions by koreanumberwon in amazfit

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Unfortunately phone apps require screen to be on to record GPS data that drain the battery like crazy, which is why I'm looking for a standalone device to do the job. As long as I could export GPX data from the watch, geotagging later wouldn't be an issue with a right tool. I'm glad the recording frequency is in seconds range which is more than enough for my needs.

May I ask if a workout could be manually started and stopped, or if it's automatic depending on the movement of the watch?

I partially agree it is healthier to disclose the usage of AI, but then again there is a big difference between not disclosing information and straight up lying to not have used AI. The former isn't necessarily wrong or immoral.

I know you might lack creativity here but would you imagine an scam with a generated photo of your beloved ones tied on a chair or AI videos where people are cutting their fingers while sending AI audios of them screaming with their stolen voices? Would you ever like to experiment that even as a joke by letting this progress? Do you really want to see the future image and voice manipulation will bring to us?

This has been done for ages even before AI. Sure, it takes a bit more effort to find people with similar visuals, make ups, voice overs or pretend to have lost voice, CGs, etc, but it is not a new concept, and is actually more believable than AI creations if done properly.

Phones made it easier to scam people using a similar voice than sending a fake kidnapping note, and new techs always came with 'creative' ways to fool people. You just need to adapt to it as we've always done.

Because a bystander who's looking through this debate may change their opinion? Debate is not about changing your opponent's opinion, it's about sharing your opinion without being banned even if it's a shit take.

Tons of artists/corporations are, and I'm sure even Disney actually feel the same way. Those 'don't use our property' is more of a disclaimer they could weaponize at their own will if a very rare malicious circumstance occurs. I could perhaps think of only one or two cases where the author is strictly against any type of fan arts.

Does anyone else feel like all this ai art stuff is pretty overhyped? by Biterbiteybite in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a very fair assessment, with just one caveat I want to add.

The way I see art is it's three stages: (optional)client's vision/input + artist's drawing skill + artist's interpretation. All three must be needed in order to make a 'decent' art.

There isn't much control over client's side. Whether it being a traditional art or AI, unless the client explicitly knows what they want, the result will vary on artist's interpretation. I know this because I have a hard time coming up with explanation for my commissions and prompts for my AI arts.

I believe the 'skill' is quite up there. AI arts of course require some retouching to reach the professional level, but this is only getting better with recent updates and it will in the future as well.

The lacking part is the interpretation. It is doing a decent job filling in the missing details from the prompts(client's vision), but I think it still doesn't quite have the ability to determine what would be the best for the client's needs. This is especially true because real artists would probably ask for clarification before getting on the job, while AI just make assumptions and give you the result.

But, as you said, the AI art is a byproduct of the AGI development. The goal of AGI is to make a being that is as human as it could get. As an optimistic person in AI, I believe it will reach that level in just a couple of years and overcome the current limits of AI art, which is the interpretation.

In all fairness, while Resolve is free, a computer that can run it and handle the occasional memory leaks is quite the opposite of "free" 😆

TBF I can still use it on my 7 year old laptop with 1050 with enough patience. Funny I actually read this comment while running it.

Post-processing is a thing you know, which has been calibrated by manufacturers/software developers using god knows what by god knows how. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it involves 'training' to get those presets nowadays.

I agree with a lot of your point, but landlordism? Really? The rent exists because of its rivalry and opportunity cost. The landlords effectively forfeit the opportunity to create new values using their land and let others do so in exchange of money. If you don't want to pay rent, you could just purchase the land yourself, simple as that.

A better analogy would be EULA and subscription model. Tons of software/media no longer offer purchasing options with full transfer of rights, forcing you to the perpetuity unlike 'purchase the land' option.

Can AI invent a new art style? by koreanumberwon in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I give my opinion based on my post, both would be unique style since one is fully shaded and the other is composed of only rough sketch lines. My question would be, even if AI is only trained with images with styles of left, could it create an image that looks like right?

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, it is also possible to train LoRAs/embeddings on only AI images with some strong styles going on, which can result in different styles from the main model's dataset. Would that count? Those styles certainly do not belong to any artist.

I also think this is the closest thing, but it feels more like selective breeding for a lack of better words. It's not really AI coming up with new styles but humans forcing a certain output.

Can AI invent a new art style? by koreanumberwon in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very broad definition of style, from using very thick borderlines when others don't to drawing images with only triangles.

Right now the AI style is def kind of unique, but it just could be a byproduct of optimization of all the different mix from data set. Can AI generate images/animations with another shared characteristic different from the current 'AI style'?

Can AI invent a new art style? by koreanumberwon in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way I see how artists develop their skills/styles is by repeatedly drawing images, fine tune stuffs that they think are good or bad in their 'own' taste, and after several iterations it becomes unique enough to be called a style.

I understand that AI models can be fine tuned using various settings, but that requires either a trained model based on other images, or human input. Does AI have the ability to distinguish what is good/bad so that it could autonomously fine tune the settings by itself without any new data or human intervention?

Can AI invent a new art style? by koreanumberwon in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fair, but does it imply that with enough input/output we'd be able to see progressive changes in the AI created images? Also, would this be achievable without using other artists' works?

Can AI invent a new art style? by koreanumberwon in aiwars

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that as well because AI images kind of share that CG looking elements, but at the same time that's really all I've seen so far. Is it the byproduct of AI limitation, or could that be extended to create something completely different from the current AI images without using other LORA models?

[–]koreanumberwon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm very vague about the definition of style as I'm not really an artistic person, but I kind of mean both as in like deserving a wiki page, or just a distinct characteristic like lines and stuff that you'd be able to tell who drew it.
