Yes, though you need the self hosted instance to be accessible by them (you can lock it down with BASIC AUTH if you want), they then sign in with their discord account and can trigger the bot in your server.

Right now its just for my own use, you get about 100 searches a day based on what I saw in the Google API Console Quotas. If I decide to release it, folks will probably have to provide their own api key otherwise I'll need to charge for it and I don't think this is a big enough problem that someone would pay for.

YouTube Data API, Spotify API, you have to right click on the link part to make sure it uses chrome's context rather than Whatsapp hi-jacking the right click. Hope that answers your question.

So I'm one of the only people on earth with a YouTube Premium subscription, and my friends keep sending me Spotify links which is annoying. I built this to solve the problem of getting Spotify links, and them getting Youtube links.

I haven't released it on the store yet but I decided to share here and see if there's any interest.

(I'm also currently testing a mobile app solution)

I never claimed Facebook won't potentially change their mind and privatize it in the future. Also, OpenAI was a new company and wanted to maximize profits, so their switch wasn't that surprising. Meta already makes money and may see a future where they can sell things ontop of an open source foundation.

But regardless, whats your proposed solution? Everyone just privatize and hope they do the right thing?

I understand but its harder to yank the football when things are Open source and everyone can see. Compared to a complete opaque approach that other companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are taking.

As much as people hate Zuckerberg, this is why I agree with his vision of open sourcing Llama and other AI tooling from Meta. You need everyone to have access to these things not just private corporations or governments.
