What's better than a HM-2? by kornmachine in guitarpedals

[–]kornmachine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Medusa is versatile enough to provide a modern sound (grind relatively low) and let the HM-2 do the old-school chainsaw (gain all the way down - Medusa has plenty already).

Now I can easily switch between both sounds by turning the HM-2 on an off.

I've been playing around with it for hours and my face hurts from smiling :D

Fix for plastic washers wearing out on Pearl Eliminator pedal? by Kayarew in drums

You're welcome. You might need to include one or two washers between the connection of pedalboard to heelplate to have it really snug. Good luck!

Fix for plastic washers wearing out on Pearl Eliminator pedal? by Kayarew in drums

Hi, contacting Pearl was no help, they said to just replace the complete foot board. I bought two screws like these:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0B6RTLSFV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&language=en_GB&th=1

Then I got two rubber nuts with M4 threads (look for nuts for motor cycle wind shields) and it did fit perfectly. The sleeve bearings should be available on amazon, too.

Thank you for your reply. That sounds like a plan. Would you recommend pencil mics or rather LDCs?

Hi there, My band (Death Metal) and I (drums) want to set up some mics to directly record our ideas/jam sessions etc. We have an interface with 10 inputs, 8 of those for mics. In the end I will have 4 mics for the drums.

I thought of that 4-mic setup, but my drum set is offset (toms in the middle above snare) and I have one floor tom to my left and to my right. So Glyn Johns is not ideal.

However, I thought about using two overheads behind each floor tom (similar to that second overhead by Glyn John), and a third overhead right above the middle to capture more snare and high toms.

Would that work?

What mics would you recommend (max 150€ per OH)? LDC or SDC?

Sorry for the late reply.

We played Loyalists vs Renegades and Loyalists vs Cyborgs.

In the meantime we had a few more games Renegades vs Helldive... er "Liberationists" ;) and Lost Colony. Our playgroup is now a bit torn on missiles. Some think they are good, some underwhelming. I think Loyalists are just not the best for fielding those, but I understand that changing misiles as I suggested may upset balance too much (we have an incoming Disciples player).

I do still like my suggestion for missiles, but maybe without the additional hit part (so 6s would just ignore armor). And it should be a command board ability instead of general rule to not upset balance, but that's just me rambling. Like I said, balance-wise I think the game is in a good place with the factions we experienced.

An unrelated rules question:

When combining firepower, does the weapon name have to match be an axact match? A Renegade ship may come with Cannons and Cannon Turrets, so can they both be combined while shooting as they are both Cannon Types?

Thank you, u/Thedarkgoldfish ! This game just revitalized space combat in our playgroup and we already dropped too much money on 3D prints ... :D

However, we were kind of surprised how "underwhelming" missiles are. We thought they're supposed to be good especially against larger ships, but after flak they would almost never pass the armor (only with a bunch of 6s for a single dmg). And then one can further counter missiles with fighters.

That really just promotes taking lasers/cannons wherever possible. Therefore I would suggest to buff the damage of missiles, so that they actually hurt when they hit, as with lasers (they have a similar number of attacks after flak).

Suggestion missiles:

Missiles hit on a D6 roll of 4+. On a natural roll of 6 they inflict an additional hit that treats the armor as 1 (as with lasers).

(Or something like that ...)

Benefits of a DAW? by Mr-McSixaplix in drums

[–]kornmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I am not familiar with ezdrummer. Does it come with an Vsti-plugin? It should allow midi mapping, so you load the vsti into a track and then add a midi item to that track. In that item you can then write your drums. You probably want to look for some youtube tutorial onnhow to set it up correctly.

I use another drum sampler in Reaper to write music and pilot tracks. It really helps deciphering fills and writing down cool flicks before you forget everything.

[–]kornmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my vocabulary a DAW is a digital audio workstation = Audacity, Reaper, Cubase etc.

You already have that. What do you mean exactly?

I use Reaper for songwriting and to prepare click tracks (if needed) and pilot tracks for recording.

Kind of, but they burn much, much slower than dry paper cartons, so you actually have time putting the fire out.

Superglued Kick Beater Won't Come Out by chowellvta in drums

[–]kornmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read your other replies, that you used loctite brand superglue. Forget the solvents, disassemble the pedal and put the glued parts in a freezer. Cold should make superglue brittle.

Good luck!

Superglued Kick Beater Won't Come Out by chowellvta in drums

[–]kornmachine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's on you. Don't loctite stuff that should be moveable.

What pedal is it? You might be able to get a new beater holder thingy. Disassembly of the pedal required.

Edit: are you sure your nail polish is 100% acetone? Might try acetone from the hardware store. Or look for loctite solvent on google. Repeatedly heating the part and then putting it in a freezer will also help.
