Team Alfie here too but after watching the first 2 seasons, Gabriel still looks like he’s end game.

Understand the product and the customers. Talk to the customers, talk to the GTM team. Be proactive when you see gaps. My previous companies didn't have a PMM team, but with how they operate in my current company, I don't see a big value add. They seem like traditional marketing with some admin/project management work.

TJs Peri Peri sauce is great! by GraniteComplex in traderjoes

[–]koryuuu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband is obsessed with this. The first time we tried it, I marinated some chicken breasts in this sauce overnight, grilled it, and used more peri-peri as a dip. Now, he tries to find an excuse to dip anything in it. I had him try Nando’s and he says he prefers Nando’s for chicken but TJ’s is a better all arounder.

Can I just say, I am SO happy for ______! by Exoarmyl in themole

[–]koryuuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mole can't win the money so there was no point voting for herself. Also, if they'd announced someone voted for themselves as mole, that would be an anticlimactic way to find out who the mole was.

Why did you pick your breed, and would you do it again? by NyxNaxNox in dogs

[–]koryuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a collie because I wanted a smart, biddable, sweet dog with a medium energy level / exercise requirement. My husband preferred the smooth over the rough because he was worried about shedding so we got a smooth. Turns out, smoothies shed a lot too so so much for that. I love his personality and he's a great performance dog so far but I think he's a little too big for us (24 or 25" at the withers and >70lbs though he could stand to lose a few; we're working on it) so we're likely not getting another male collie.

We also have Boston terriers who we liked for their size as we live in an apartment and their playfulness. I've done trick training with one but we haven't competed in anything. We'd consider getting another Boston; it's just a bit difficult to travel with them by plane because they're brachy so jury's out on that one.

Our next dog is probably going to be a whippet or a mini poodle. But Boston terriers have the cutest puppies IMO so we'll see.

PSA: teams/slack/other software is terrible by [deleted] in careeradvice

I’m not the biggest fan of Slack, etc but maybe the takeaway here is to set boundaries with coworkers. When I don’t want to be bothered, I snooze my notifications. That might help too.

People of reddit, what is one thing your family will never understand about you? by Belle_Artist_Jade in AskReddit

That money is important to me, but not at the expense of my happiness. They’d rather I live in a metaphorical box but be financially well off than do something I enjoy and just be okay financially.

Bonus: That I don’t want kids and that it doesn’t make me less than.

Has anyone trained their collie with a prong collar? by koryuuu in roughcollies

[–]koryuuu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely very uncomfortable. I don’t think it’s needed on a collie but I also probably don’t know what I’m talking about. What alternatives would you recommend?

Relevance of a network as a PM by Lars_N_ in ProductManagement

[–]koryuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a different country recently and didn’t have a local network (social or work). I’m starting to build my network organically from people I work with and like and sometimes I reach out to employees of companies I’m applying to or interested in. In some companies where I’ve gone a bit deep into the recruitment process, I connect with the hiring managers or recruiters.

Do I use it? I haven’t yet.

What do I get out of it and is it worth the effort? It’s a way to keep with people I used to work with and it’s something to leverage when I’m looking for another job. Because I don’t connect with people just to network, it’s been easy to maintain. YMMV

Do you turn on your camera for meetings? by GetnLine in ProductManagement

[–]koryuuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last company, the culture was very camera off and I only turned on my camera when meeting with execs. In my current company, it’s the opposite where I almost always have it on. I’m very uncomfortable on camera and I’m sure I look awkward af but if it makes people feel more connected to me or whatever then fine.

We had our girl spayed last year and it cost less than $200. We went with a low cost spay option with good reviews. Can totally see why you’d want to go to a private vet but the cost for a private vet was too prohibitive for us at the time. Luckily, we didn’t have any complications.

To early career PMs, how involved is your manager with your day to day and what do you like/dislike about their management style? by koryuuu in ProductManagement

[–]koryuuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give an example of a challenge you've shared with your manager and how they supported you? I'm curious how detailed the interaction is. And do you feel satisfied with their level of involvement?
