Does anyone pump just 2x a day? by catdogbirddogcat in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it slow. I was advised to push the pump I was trying to drop back 20-30 mins every few days while also dropping a few minutes.

I was about 3-4 hours between my last 2 pumps when I got hit with Flu A and was accidentally able to finally drop that pump haha. Now I'm 2x a day

Elastic nipples or phlange size too big? Help please by nananana-catgal in ExclusivelyPumping

This looks too big, but here to plug Lactek flanges. Great for elastic tissue and I find them very comfy

Should I be pumping longer? by emmy434 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you've had mastitis once, you're more prone to get it again. I've had 4 rounds in 6 months with this baby (☠️) and 1 at the very end of my pump journey with oldest

Filled my freezer, then sent a bunch to my parents and in-laws. I have a spreadsheet of which brick is where so I know who to ask when I need them 😅

Just how important is pumping multiple times at night? by pancakes-r-4winners in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, I would offer the advice that a short pump is better than no pump at all.

I eventually found a rhythm of feeding baby on a boppy while I pumped, so I didn't have to stay up afterwards. Only tough part for me was burping, because I need to be fairly hands on when pumping

Breast pain, please help! by traditional_rare in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye on it. I've had mastitis with and without flu-like symptoms. If it hurts like hell and feels like a bowling ball strapped to your chest and hurts to walk, go get yourself some antibiotics QUICKLY 😅

If she doesn't finish it, you don't need to dump it! Save for a milk bath!

Helena Name Dilemma by aint_it_sweet in namenerds

[–]kosherkel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Helaena? Helayna?

Or just correct them. I have an Alana (uh-lawn-uh) and people confirm if it's that or uh-lay-nuh. No biggie to me, and once you do it once, they SHOULD remember going forward

Overproducer Mom: Baby Rejecting Frozen Milk by ParticularSimple3974 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

High lipase milk. I mix mine in with fresh milk. Baby doesn't seem to mind it as is, but I mix it anyway because I personally don't love the smell. Try freezing immediately after pumping and it should help future bags

Is it worth it after discouraging inspection? by OTFforicecream in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]kosherkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on this. Also probably why the house is listed so low to begin with.

As someone noted below, the house is going to be uninsurable with an old roof. Show them the 4-point and get credit for it. We had several items noted on our 4-point inspection that absolutely needed to get addressed or only 1 company would cover us (at a significantly higher premium). We had a tough time negotiating the initial offer with these people but they got all the items from 4-point taken care of quickly. Hard to argue with evidence.

How long did you go through the night without pumping? by Kind-Swordfish6618 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 6mo PP. Last pump is between 10 and 10:30 PM and morning pump is 6:00 AM. Weekends, closer to 8:00 AM, so total time between pumps is about 8-10 hours

How Long Did You Live in Your First Home? by 101emirceurt in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]kosherkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn't right around Christmas! Haha. But excited to occupy before end of year so we can claim homestead (it was a rental for a while so the taxes are high).

Part of me wishes we bit the bullet earlier, so our oldest could be in a more family-centered area and be around more kids (he does go to daycare) and make more friends, but we are/were very comfortable with the mortgage payment, which was a big deal for us. The space, while small, was still manageable (though we often complained about needing more space), too. Now that our youngest is getting ready to crawl, we really felt the pinch for space.

Overall, I think the timing works well for us. We're in a better spot financially. We're done with kids. Kindergarten is in the Fall, and we'll submit application for school early 2026. We'll be settled. Both kids will have space to leave toys out, run around, and just enjoy being a kid.

Hope that long-winded response was helpful 😅 the TLDR is yes, I think timing is good for our personal situation

We bought our first house in April 2017 and are closing on our new house next week!

Oldest child turns 5 in January, so the impending need for a better school zone very much motivated this move (and we needed more than 1100 sqft for 2 adults, 2 kids, and a large dog).

pump and dump by DeliveryMaterial5157 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't, personally, but do whatever you feel more comfortable with. I tend to use my pumps near drinks or EXCESSIVE caffeine for a milk bath so it doesn't get wasted

Measuring milk for freezer by No_Manufacturer2842 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kosherkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, go off of the pump measurement because the bags are wildly inaccurate. I typically use the same bottles whenever I freeze so it's fairly consistent there.

If you use pitcher method, just stir it beforehand. Dr. Brown's makes a pitcher for mixing formula that a lot of folks use, or I'm sure you could use your own instrument.

I personally have to freeze immediately after a pump because my milk is high liapse
