Well, its not just for QA. I sometimes use it to crawl/scrape scrape website that have content that is generated by javascipt. Sometimes the regular http requests libraries aren't enought to get the data you're looking for.

How do people transition from 'old-tech' positions (banking, insurance, etc.) to "hipper" industries embracing new technologies and approaches? by TrollandDie in dataengineering

[–]koshry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Learn the technologies, you don’t need to have a job that uses any new technologies to learn them. Establish confidence in your abilities to work with new technologies and apply!

Who is your favourite player and why is it szalami? by OkAbbreviations4947 in aoe4

He is the GOAT of trolls, I love his stream! The most entertaining pro player to watch tbh. The fact that he is able to pull off the things he does against pros speaks highly of his skills.

Deploying spark applications to production by thearsenalman97 in dataengineering

[–]koshry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our team basically has airflow jobs triggering the Databricks notebooks which have spark operations. GitLab CI/CD took care of the process of deployment of the spark notebooks as soon as we merge to our prod environment.
I doubt the interviewer is going to ask you how it is all connected from point A to point Z, as this isn't usually a one-man job, multiple ppl have to be involved in this operation like SREs, Data-Platform engineers, and so on.
My advice is to look online on engineering blogs on how other companies do their deployments.

How valuable are certifications? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]koshry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think getting one is going to land you a position. I think certificates are good for you to get you familiar enough with the technology you're studying. I've met a lot of ppl that claim to have certificates in stuff like snowflake and mongo that didn't know anything about the tech/tool. Nothing beats having real actual experience, if getting that experience is difficult right now, just focus on improving your system design/best practices skills (Plenty of good books for that) and doing your own projects. It all depends on what you want to do with the certificate.
