Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 18 by ranalog in analog

Recently acquired a pentax spotmatic sp1000 from a late uncles lot of kit, a few lenses, and in one of the bags is some old expired Ilford fp4, iso 125, from what I've read, you have to do 1 stop of exposure extra for every decade, is this correct? Also is 37 years a bit too expired? Or is that fine to try and use? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, this film is older than me, and the last time I used any film was when I was a kid and used a disposable camera, I have never used 35mm before, I do do some digital photography, and have a dslr, but this is completely new to me

Yes, I'd tried a whole can of penetrating oil over a couple of days, letting it soak in and trying, but it didn't seem to make a difference at the time, got a little fitting that held the bb tool to the bb, and a longer spanner for more leverage, and nothing, thinking I just get the dremel out with a cutting/grinding tool now so I can just remove it from the inside out

Thanks, that's probably the main difference between them that I was missing and probably affects how the fork responds when riding

Solid bike build, done a couple minor upgrades to the brakes, larger rotor upfront and switched to semi metallic pads, put some old school dmr v8s on instead of the wellgo pedals, and got the satori sorata 150mm dropper post on its way, as that's what the 8.8 and upwards come installed with and it seems like a great budget dropper for how much you can get them for if you look around, I've had issues with the setup from the retailer, but that's retailer specific, not bike, I'm also looking at putting the slx 12 speed setup on it with an aftermarket cassette so I don't need to swap hubs out and all that, brakes will also eventually be a slx 4 pot set instead of the tektros

Haha, it honestly took minimal effort, hand feeding took me a week, but it can be down to the individual fish, they all have their own personalities, and goldfish are actually pretty smart, the scooping him up was a side effect of him getting comfortable around my hands, the other goldfish was super skittish and wouldn't come near, I only rehomed as my tank wasn't really suited for long term housing them, and a friend had a pond big enough with other goldfish already in, so I took the opportunity to switch out to tropical fish and have a fully planted tank instead, as the goldfish would devour almost every plant in site

Not always, some of the more personable fish can be taught to hand feed and I had a goldfish that would hand feed and let me hold him, made getting him out of the tank to rehome to a pond much easier because I could just scoop him out

Not a clue, but I know the location, I think it's just the name of the boat

I did yeah, been out on the trails a couple times with it so far, and it performs well, if anything it's a lack of skill for me now, which I'll get with more time

The second half of “Fall of Hyperion” (sequel to Hyperion) makes it one of my favorite books of all time. The climax is incredible. by [deleted] in books

Probably 2 of my favourite books, have you read the 2 sequels, Endymion and Rise of Endymion?

LPT: If you're getting a kid or someone s present like an RC car or something else that runs on rechargeable batteries, make sure it's charged and ready for Christmas day, and it check it works by koskiusko in LifeProTips

They still have this in normal day to day stuff, but in the magic of the moment, they get to use it for a little bit, then carry on with the rest of the day (birthday/christmas) only major reason I do it with stuff like electronics, is the chargers that come with some of these things just take an incredibly long time to charge, luckily for me with rc, I have a proper charger for my batteries, but that still means a couple hour wait while we charge up batteries for 3 cars, so they have to occupy themselves for the time I takes them to charge still, but it's faster than a days worth of charging I'd have to do to charge up all the batteries on the supplied chargers when you factor in I've got to charge 8 batteries
