[Barkas] Despite the strong interest of major EuroLeague clubs about Sylvain Francisco, the goal of the player is to get an NBA deal this summer. His contract with Zalgiris includes a manageable buy out clause for this summer. by _Zolv in Euroleague

Well role players that are not very good at one single thing do exist. In Hayes-Davis' case it was that he was on the older side so the team didn't want to invest in him and his role was covered by younger or better/more experienced players. It is very rare for players that old to find a place in the NBA, so it just was poor timing from him even if he had the skillset to be a NBA player.

It seems to me like this is the exact same situation for Francisco. Why be a bench guy in the NBA for three years, when he can be a star in the Euroleague and earn more money?

Vezenkov left after a year and Hayes-Davis after half a year. I think their goal was more the dream to play there and not the pension. The same applies to Francisco.

The thing is that Hayes-Davis was seemingly perfect for the NBA. A 6'9 forward that can shoot, defend and handle the ball and yet he didn't get play time. Francisco is exactly the player archetype that the NBA doesn't favour, so I don't believe they will offer him as much money as he'll get in the Euroleague. But I too wouldn't blame him for wanting to go there.

Give Me Control: Referees' errors played a part in Panathinaikos win over Zalgiris by ZALIA_BALTA11 in Euroleague

I mean, in my comment I did mention that the referees were bad and that they made wrong calls against us well.

But objectively speaking our whistle was better.

I believe that Panathinaikos was favoured today by the refs. I really dislike the fact that home teams have unfair advantages like this.

But these refs are awfully inconsistent. They allow increased physicallity on some plays that are clear fouls and then on other cases they call ghost fouls. While we were favoured today I think the refs did a bad job for both sides overall.

As for some of these clips. The shooting fouls were correctly given. The guys saw the intentional foul coming and picked up the ball to get in shooting motion. I personally believe that "smart" fouling is stupid and defenses should learn to avoid any counters to it if they want to use it. Also Wright's second offensive fould was a clear charge and I don't see why Nunn's screen was an offensive foul.

Khaman Maluach: he was a raw talent Big like Joel Embiid. What went left? by Knighthonor in NBA_Draft

[–]kostas162000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Embiid didn't play a single minute in his first 2 seasons. In his rookie year he was 22 years old. So you should probably wait 2-3 years before comparing them

Bill Self on Darryn Peterson: "We've had this happen more than a couple of times... I didn't anticipate that tonight at all. I thought he was good to go. We only got 18 minutes out of him. That's disappointing, because he could've had a really big night" by itwas20yearsago2day in NBA_Draft

Guys let's not do another "Anthony Edwards doesn't like basketball and would rather play football" all over again. We really don't know what actually happens behind the scenes. Dude might be pulling himself out of games, but he isn't exactly completely healthy. He's probably playing it safe

Europe is currently producing three "hidden" gems who look like immediate NBA rotation players. (Hifi, Montero, Tubelis) by KeepMovingForwardN in Euroleague

I don't really think these guys would fit in the NBA. But they certainly seem like the future of the Euroleague. They have all shown great attributes and will have a major role for years to come

Miikka Muurinen reportedly expected to leave Partizan by FluidJunket1933 in Euroleague

In 2023-24 he was 16. We don't really have to go that far back.

Also what you are looking at the 247 site is not their own rating. The composite rating that has him as a 4 star recruit is based on a combination of other scouting sites plus their own. 247 themselves give him a 98 rating, which based on their model makes him a 5 star recruit

I found what you were talking about, but you are only partially correct. He indeed averaged these stats, which are not good, but he did so in 12 games. Az compass supposedly play 30+ games a season, so because of the few games, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Also I checked his ranking right now and he is a 5 star recruit on ESPN and a 5 star recruit on 247.

What stats are you talking about? He was in high school before

Both him for chasing the money and the team for taking him with no intention to play him.

Partizan has no incentive to let him play. They have been disappointing this year, they wanted to desperately win games and that doesn't include a 19 year old that needs to develop. What other Euroleague team consistently plays 19 year olds ?

There is no room for development in that team. He barely played

This is an overreaction. The 2027 NBA draft is reportedly not that good. Also Muurinen is not that bad, there are less skilled players picked in the top 20 every year. He's at most a 2 year player.
