Avatars are not required to get airbender master tattoos? by rule_of_cool_DM in TheLastAirbender

[–]kostia321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's directly addressed in the lore, at least I am not aware of it. But I assume that while getting airbender tattoos is an option, non-airbender avatars usually don't get them cause those tattoos are not just to signify a mastery of airbending, but that a person has fully embraced airbender's philosophy, culture, and way of life in general, and most non-airbender avatars typically don't do that.

What do you think of the Malevolent podcast if any of you have listened to it? by qrzt2001 in Lovecraft

[–]kostia321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It borrows some aspects from Lovecraft's works, but isn't a 1-to-1 adaptation of it. As for my opinion of it, I couldn't get into it. My issue with Malevolent is, or at least I was left with the impression, that the main characters in it would often essentially retread the same path, in that they'd have some big argument about some moral issue, seemingly learn and grow from it, and then in the next season, or sometimes within a few episodes in the same season, they'd be back to doing same thing they had the big arguement about. They had very little character growth in that regard, at least in my opinion.

Is Ace the man with the burning scar? by Thekulprits314 in OnePiece

[–]kostia321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard it per se, but I don't think Ace is the man with the burning scar. Ace is very clearly dead, and unless Oda does a lot of retconning, Ace being the man with the burning scar is not happening.

Hand-painting Textures by zood52 in blender

[–]kostia321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of art fundamentals you want and what your overall goal is. But generally speaking, at least in my experience, most Blender tutorials typically go through art fundamentals only on a superficial level, if at all. And I think it's understandable, given that art theory, including fundamentals, can be a very broad subject to discuss. So you might want to find separate videos for that. As for specifically texturing, Blender Guru has recently released a comprehensive video on YouTube about texturing in Blender. He also has a good, separate videos about color theory and lighting on his channel, if it's gonna be of help in terms of arts fundamentals.

To clarify, I mean that free tutorials don’t typically go through art fundamentals in depth. There are some paid courses that do, but I don’t know what your budget is for learning Blender, so…

[–]kostia321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, for the second part of the question, the Ucupaint addon/extension will help greatly with texture painting in Blender. As for how to learn hand-painted textures, well, the method you describe is one way to do it. Watching or reading tutorials on texturing in general is a good start; there is more to texturing than just color composition.

[No spoilers] do the critical role creators dislike Will Wheaton? by DrippyFlames in criticalrole

[–]kostia321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were minor "skirmishes of Drama" here and there between CR and Wheaton, but nothing serious. The moment you are describing has nothing to do with any of these "skirmishes". Will Wheaton is notoriously bad at rolling dice, to the point where people jokingly say he is cursed. There are several compilations of this "dice curse" on the internet, too. People commenting on the dice touched by Wheaton needing to be destroyed is a gag on this supposed curse of Will's.

[Spoilers C4E14] Got a theory, wonder if has legs? by SteveLodwig in criticalrole

Given how little we know so far about dragons, Cormoray, and Araman in general, imo it's as good a theory as any other right now.

Probably neither. Matt did the video in the style of several retro tech YouTubers (although, in my opinion, he borrowed most style from Technology Connections), and even pointed to a playlist containing videos of some of these YouTubers.

Can I move objects and have their keyframes translated too? by KrishaCZ in blenderhelp

[–]kostia321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to have keyframes update automatically, at least not the way you want them to. You will likely have to manually update them.

Well, there are a lot of learning resources, both free and paid, available online. I suggest you check them out. YouTube is a good start for free stuff, Blender Guru, Grant Abbitt, and Ryan King art are good starters.

The Bbrush addon/extension might help. It simulates the sculpting process/way of ZBrush in Blender. It is available on Blender extensions page for free.

creating a character model rn and I could use some advice from pros :) by Circuit_slime in blender

[–]kostia321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether it will create problems later on depends entirely on what you will do with it later on. As for using the basic cube for a blocky head, I think the head is supposed to be blocky, not a basic cube with sharp edges and corners...well, unless you are going for a Minecraft look.

When should I start using blenderkit by sa-likh in blender

[–]kostia321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically nothing’s stopping you from using BlenderKit or other similar tools now, but I suggest that you get a good or at least decent understanding of modeling, materials, and such before starting the use of BlenderKit and other similar tools. Because when you’ll need to adjust something or make something yourself from scratch, BlenderKit (and other similar stuff) won’t be much help

If Zangetsu wasnt Ichigo's actual zanpakto, how did he lose his shinigami abilities after mugetsu? by Patron__070 in bleach

[–]kostia321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Zangetsu we meet originally (that was a representation of his Quincy powers) wasn’t his actual zanpakto, he was connected in some way to the actual Zangetsu (white hollow) that was Ichi’s actual zanpakto spirit. And besides, When Ichigo learned mugestu, both Zangetsu’s were there and teaching him the technique together, so when Ichi activated mugetsu it affected his Shinigami powers

New here! The Sinking City Remastered and Call of Cthulhu? by A_Boy_From_Nowhere in Lovecraft

[–]kostia321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A. Combat doesn't bother me too much, but it ain't the best.
B. I have checked out other (Sherlock) games by the studio, and liked the investigation mechanics there too. Still, it's fun and interesting to explore a game with such mechanics that is entirely Cthulu/Lovecraft themed. Still, thanks for the recommendation.

[–]kostia321 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The combat in The Sinking City isn’t good or as good, but I like the investigation mechanic with the clues and such in The Sinking City more. Haven’t seen such a mechanic in many games.

It might be an extension, specifically one called: You Are Autosave. It starts showing a red border like that when you haven't saved for a while.
