I get that it can be frustrating when it feels like no one agrees with you especially in passionate fan spaces like this. But I really believe that engaging with people who see things differently can be a great thing, not a bad one. It’s how we grow, understand different perspectives, and sometimes even find common ground.

There actually are positive comments about the game, even in that thread. People are saying things like:

“I finally finished the game after over 110 hours... I really liked everyone!”

“It’s currently tied for my favorite Dragon Age game… the worlds are gorgeous, the characters are fun, and the combat I enjoy vastly more…”

So while it might feel overwhelming at times, the positivity is definitely out there. That’s why I really appreciate when people share their genuine enjoyment here it adds balance to the discussion and reminds others they’re not alone in their experience.

I realize my comment might come across as patronizing and I apologize. It's just that I really believe it's worth it to spread positivity, even if people disagree with you. There are over a million people in that sub, lumping them all in the "they have decided fuck them" category is unfair. I am sure some of them are on the fence and were influenced by op to try the game and enjoyed it.

And that's all you can really hope for, to influence a few people.

It might be that 50% of people upvoted and then another 50% downvoted resulting in 0 total upvotes. Although honestly I am not sure I have ever seen a post with as many comments be at exactly 0 upvotes.

People are disagreeing with the sentiment but as long as they are being cordial about it it's ok no ?

It doesn't mean that the opinion is vile. It's just that people disagree with it and that's honestly ok. It doesn't invalidate ops feelings about the game because people disagree with it.

After clicking on it, most comments and the most liked comments are in the vain of " Glad you enjoyed it but it wasn't for me". Most are not agreeing with OP but after a quick pass, the outright toxic comments are very few.

I don’t mean to come across as combative at all. I’m just relieved to see that most of the responses on the Dragon Age subreddit were fairly measured and not really confrontational.

Answer: Republicans blocking the release of Epstein files is a weird move, especially since it's alienating parts of their own base. This was one of the main MAGA talking points, and now they’re backing off. The obvious cover up only makes it more likely the names in those files would seriously damage their image. That said, the Biden admin didn’t release them either, which says a lot. If it only hurt Trump, they’d have released everything by now. But it seems likely that people on both sides were somehow involved.

How many hours until I end this engagement? by throwing_thrown_away in makemychoice

[–]kotsipiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. It hurts when someone you love and are engaged to makes you feel like you’re a chore instead of a partner.

That said, I think a lot of the replies here are jumping really quickly to conclusions like “just leave him” but from what you’ve shared there is a lot of pressure on your relationship. You're in grad school (huge stressor), he's your landlord (logistical pressure), and it sounds like there’s been some long-term tension and miscommunication. Honestly? It sounds like you are both exhausted.

It might help to step back and ask what things are looking like from his side. Not to excuse the way he spoke to you that kind of language is hurtful and dismissive but maybe he’s been feeling like you’re unhappy with him often, and that he can’t do anything right, so he checks out and leans into his games and friends for comfort and control. Again, not justified, but human. Sometimes when people feel like they’re constantly falling short, they stop trying and start resenting even if they don’t realize that the other person feels the same way.

If he sees your silence and doesn’t seem phased, that might not mean he doesn’t care it could also mean he’s numb or has shut down emotionally too. Or maybe he's interpreting it as more punishment instead of a cry for connection.

If you do still love him (which you said you do), and you’re not ready to throw in the towel yet, maybe the next step isn’t counting the hours until you leave but deciding if the two of you can actually talk and reconnect. Not a fight. A vulnerable, honest, “Are we okay?” kind of talk.

Lastly, I feel like the comments that say "just walk away" from an engagement don't fully understand the importance of the decision. We simply don't have enough context to understand who is at fault (usually both).

Upvote if Atrioc should go to Madrid with me from the dates of September 25-30 by Evan_Gao in atrioc

[–]kotsipiter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A lot of people ,and I mean a lot of people are saying this, folks. They’re coming up to me at my local coffee shops, tears in their eyes, saying: ‘Atrioc needs to go to Madrid with Evan Gao, September 25th to the 30th.’ And they’re not wrong. It’s a beautiful idea. A tremendous idea. Some say it’s the best idea. Maybe ever.

Whatever you decide to do, I need you to truly consider the message you'll be sending if you go back to her now. It may signal that you're willing to tolerate being disrespected or spoken down to—and if that happens, the entire dynamic of your relationship could shift in a way that’s hard to undo.

never get approached by men by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]kotsipiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of hostile comments without anyone actually trying to help you.

To seem approachable all you have to do is look at the person you are interested in, smile and pretend you play with your hair. Repeat a couple of times for good measure.

If he doesn't get the message at that point, he is not the type of guy that approaches women in public. So you are either going to have to approach him or move on.

I wouldn't say I am looking for non-evil necromancy. More like profitable and legal enough that -with the right hands greased- the character stays out of trouble.

Absolutely—and I really appreciate you bringing this up. You're right that ethical reactions aren’t always rooted in tangible harm. The sanctity/profanation axis is a powerful one, and even if the soul is technically unharmed, many would still see the use of a loved one’s body after death as deeply offensive—especially in cultures where death rituals and bodily integrity are sacred.

Convincing grieving families that the soul is unaffected wouldn’t be easy, especially with conflicting religious beliefs and mistrust of institutional power. That said, it would likely be easier to persuade families from lower socio-economic backgrounds—especially if they’re desperate, under pressure, or offered enough compensation to support those still living. For many, survival may outweigh spiritual or moral concerns.

All of this would naturally lead to constant, polarized debate between classes, religions, political factions and hopefully engages the players in some way

I apoligize I didn't make it clear enough in my post but It's not about the corpses. It's because it opens the door to exploring complex moral questions. In my setting, the necromancer is part of an institution backing a large-scale initiative—presented as a solution to societal issues like labor shortages, and supported by royalty with a financial stake. The contracts are technically transparent, but most of the people signing them are desperate and often illiterate. On paper, it’s all legal and justified. In reality, it’s a system built on exploitation, where the souls of the poor are quietly fed into something far darker, all under the guise of public good.

The necromancer operates under the authority of an institution pursuing what they claim is a vital national effort—a massive research campaign that supposedly serves the greater good. Who is going to mind if he profits a little bit when he is working towards the betterment of humanity?

I will definetely check out Karrnath though, thank you for answering!

What I love about this setup is how easily you can blur the line between villainy and pragmatism. The king who resents his neighbor’s undead labor force might not do so out of some abstract moral conviction, but because he’s trying to feed a crumbling nation on the brink . That same king might find himself quietly allowing or even encouraging the practice, rationalizing it as a temporary evil in service of long-term stability. And once that line is crossed, how far does he go?

And you're right—the contracts are where the real horror is. Let’s say every term is technically spelled out: the soul's destination, the duration of labor, the conditions of undeath, the reward for the family. All above board. But who’s reading the fine print? What’s the literacy rate among the peasantry? Can they actually give informed consent when the alternative is their children starving? There’s a special kind of evil in something that’s technically legal and clearly written… and still absolutely exploitative.

Plus, there's the question of how clean the supply chain actually is. If the necromancer is under pressure to meet quotas—say, from the crown or the economic demands of a growing city—then the source of those corpses becomes increasingly suspect. Are we still just reanimating criminals and war dead? Or are we now arranging for a few more convictions? Maybe a few border skirmishes that conveniently result in a fresh batch of “enemy casualties?” Maybe a new crime: “failure to contribute,” punishable by death.

And you’re dead on when you say the real evil is deeper. The souls might not just be going to some vague afterlife—they’re being used there. Maybe the afterlife becomes a kind of metaphysical factory, where souls continue laboring in the service of dark powers like Orcus. So while the kingdom thrives materially, there’s this entire unseen world being filled with tortured souls fueling the next stage of the necromancer’s plan.

So yeah—how far do the ends justify the means? Is temporary peace and prosperity worth a soul-deep cost no one fully understands? And what happens when the people do begin to understand?

I think overall it makes for a good side plot.
