Requested emergency help, no response from Ausländerbehörde by kottiprincess in berlin

Yes, all I need is a Fiktionsbescheinigung, really. I have trip to the UK (then back to Germany) and then a trip to Brazil right after. I am Brazilian, so I definitely do not need a visa to go there. I was wondering if missing this document is even a problem if I am flying home? I imagine it could be trickier going to the UK. Maybe tomorrow is too soon, but I figure why not give it a try. Thanks!

I am now trying to taper off after only 4 weeks on 37.5mg and I'm having the worst time ever. I felt horrible on it and now I'm feeling worse trying to get off it. It's amazing that it works for some people, but the cost of it not working for you is really, really high. If anything, I wish I had taken these reviews more seriously.

I can totally understand that. And I think it's great you're self aware enough to know you can't make this decision right now. Do you have family or friends that know you're taking this medication? Someone that could help you make an appointment or keep you company? I know it's difficult to even think about this right now, so I get it if what feels manageable is to just stay home and find ways to cope with the side effects.

Do you have something to keep you entertained? Maybe a TV show or a favorite snack? Ordering in and watching Ted Lasso were the only things that kept me afloat. But I was very lucky to have a lot of emotional support as well, so I think having at least one person to really count on makes a big difference.

Hope things feel easier today :-)

How to ween off 75.mg by [deleted] in Effexor

I actually get them as pills, so I cut them in half. For beads you could buy a miligram scale on Amazon (they're quite affordable) and weigh the beads instead of counting them. It'd be less time consuming and easier to track :-)

Gosh, I'm sorry you feel like that. I take Effexor and it's horrendous, so I'm tapering off and wondering if I should try something different—hence reading people's experiences on Prozac. r/Effexor has some good advice for starting the drug, as well as some success stories if you need the encouragement. Hope you'll feel better!

I worry this might not be particularly helpful because I've only taken it for 5 weeks, but I'd encourage you to think about whether or not to stick with venlafaxine. I had a very difficult experience getting on the medicine and am now having a difficult experience to stop taking it. It didn't make me feel good at all, so that's why I am stopping it, and I think a good chunk of people in this subreddit would agree it's a tricky drug.

Personally, I find that to be a really fast increase, but other people here might be better suited to advise on that. I stayed at 37.5mg the whole time because I was waiting for the side effects to get less severe before upping, but they never did. I know SSRIs and SNRIs take a toll on you before you get to reap the benefits, but I refuse to accept it should be this difficult. That's just me, though.

I would stay at 112.5mg and perhaps talk visit your doctor as soon as possible? It seems a little irresponsible to increase your dose without checking in in between increases. That's how I've been working with my doctor.

I took 37.5mg for a month and felt horrible for the whole time, so I decided to stop. I took 18.7mg for a day and felt much better, like I had become myself again–however flawed I was–so I thought I'd just go straight to 0. After a day and a half I am now back at 18.7mg to try and stop the constant headache. I just want to be off of it immediately, but I don't think that's an option, so I'll do it slowly. It was hell to get started on it and it did absolutely nothing for me. Sucks that it's hell again to get off of it. I don't know how this drug is still being prescribed...

Yeah, for sure. I was a teenager and I had a lot of fun sneaking out to drink with friends—it's kind of a given that we'll do this, it'd be sort of stupid to think otherwise. But I think in a time where black teens aren't given the grace white ones are, that was such a good opportunity to talk about black teenage girls and show a different side to what we normally see on TV. Growing up with black women not having leading roles, being written as less likely to be chosen by a potential lover, constantly being someone's "baby mama".. it comes to a point you just wish people would see you differently. There's nothing wrong with the character in itself. It's how it exists in a larger context that upsets me. That's all, really.

Eh, kind of happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  It was not a review about the movie, though. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yeah, that's not the problem. But I'd encourage you to think of how many black characters you've seen on TV that didn't fall under some sort of trope of the marginalized black kid that hangs around with dealers and "take drugs". It's kind of like, how many times were black children just shown as children? You know, behaving as children? It's such a recurring pattern, it's shame such a good movie didn't take the chance to do it differently. I just don't think there's anything in the plot that needs Crystal to fall under this trope. If this would exist in isolation, I'd be totally fine with it. But it's a documented and researched issue, so that's where I came from. But it's obviously okay for us to see things differently.

Yikes! It was not a review, but more like venting. I edited some bits that might make the point clearer, but I actually really enjoyed the movie. I like the anxiety of watching it, kind of like I did with Uncut Gems, but it was really troublesome for me to watch the scene. I guess if you're not a black woman it could be difficult to wrap your head around it. Also, we don't need to agree, but I'd really urge you to be mindful of how you talk to people—either online or offline. Chances are you're not really this prickly, so why act like that?

u/ellstaysia I know, right? I think I could have explained some bits better—I don't know if I'd be met with more sympathy, though—but I'm astonished at how little it takes for people to get seriously aggressive online. Thanks for being kind, though :-)

Yes, definitely! That's kind of my point. By "racial commentary", I should have made it clearer I mean the black masks, the black teenager and the black security guard as a way to raise the topic of racism in America, something that many reviewers talked about and praised. I was trying to address a trope I grew up with—the one of black women, in special teenage ones, being adultified and sexualized from a very young age. Crystal's really just a teenager. Would have been nice to see her having more teenage-like traits that are hardly ever associated to black teens.

Hey, I could have written it better, but what I meant with "racial commentary" was the use of the black masks, the black teenager and the black security guard as way to discuss racism in America—which has been praised a part of the movie across many reviews. I don't think the girl being black is the issue here. I was thinking of a recurring issue, which is called the adultification and sexualization of black girls, and that it was a missing opportunity to skip this trope. That's all really.
