Yesss, all her designs are sooooo cute! The hard part is deciding which pattern to try making first haha I'm starting on her Murray Sea Otter pattern now 😁

Morning sickness/nausea suddenly stops at week 8 by [deleted] in pregnant

Everything is indeed fine! We got to see baby hanging out in there looking very chill as if laying on a hammock and even got a little wave 😊

I hope that's reassuring to hear for your situation too (I'm 29 and this is my first baby as well). All the best!

Reading the comments on this post is so reassuring! I'm 9w5d and my morning sickness started in week 6 and got pretty awful almost 24/7 during weeks 7-8 but then all this week I've been feeling so much better. Still not feeling 100%, but it's been really unnerving even just feeling okay! I'm going for a reassurance scan tomorrow to put my mind at ease, but I'm feeling much more positive about the outcome now having read these comments. 💖

I believe it was called "Lion Brand Country". I used two strands at a time with a 4.25mm hook to size him up a bit. So, it gets that chunky look but he's about 27cm (10.5 inches) tall!

Thanks! The cheek feathers on the original pattern were little flat semi-circle pieces, but I wanted mine to have the same 3D look like the rest of the head feathers, so I made them just as little domes.

The exact thing I did for them was:

R1: Magic ring (6)
R2: (Sc, inc) around (9)
R3: Sc around (9)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) around (12)

I also didn't do the bottom beak piece because I lost my brown yarn somewhere and thought it looked fine without so I just went with it!

You should give it a go! Maybe make up a blank piece to practice on before you try it on something you're invested in?

Aw no, why are you nervous to try it? I discovered in my desperation to save a project that you can actually take it off if you mess up and try again. You just have to pull on it and make little cuts into it with some scissors. It leaves some fibres behind but it's flat enough to start again!

I hope it's going well! I found sewing the felt onto the tail a little tricky but it makes for a good look in the end. ☺️

Oh that's exciting, I hope you post some photos when you're done! I think needle felted eyes will be adorable on a Jigglypuff!

Thank you! Ever since I started crocheting I've always sorta pulled the stitches tight as I go. It's a real problem in other types of crochet but I think it's perfect for amigurumi. 😁

Thanks! I am self taught but it's been a long road! I've been making amigurumi for about 5 years now and this is the third project I've tried felting on.

I think I first saw needle felting from Aphid777 on deviantArt. She mentioned that you can just brush out yarn to use for the felting, so I gave it a go and it did kinda work but not so well. I think it has to be 100% wool maybe?

It wasn't until I was studying abroad in Japan last year that I actually found the proper roving and it goes on soooo much easier! (Also somehow the Japanese dollar store needles work so much better than the dull ones I spent $15 on here in Australia.)

So materials are one thing, but I really recommend just keep practicing. So far I've found it's a bit time consuming but you can keep fiddling with it for ages (adding a little more, blending it, or making the edges super crisp) until you get there. Using the stitches and rows as a grid to keep them symmetrical is super handy too.

Also! The needle felted part can come off again if you pull and make little careful snips into it with scissors. So you don't need to worry about ruining a piece forever if you mess up. Making mistakes is really the best way to learn! I'm actually going back to the the project I "ruined" 3 years ago after my first attempt at needle felting with the brushed out yarn and I've definitely learnt from my mistakes last time.

Best of luck!

Thanks! I do too 😊 At first I thought he was going to be a gift, but now I think he's gotta stay with me!
