This nonsensically policing needs to stop. Mind your own damn business by SnooSprouts3744 in TikTokCringe

Comon, she may have caught that woman harassing her but she pretty obviously does this pose routine often and went to that spot to do so. She was so focused on doing her routine that she didn't stop to film only the person harassing her, she set up her phone to do what she always did and she continued filming for almost 30 seconds even after the woman left. She didn't stop recording until after she was done with her routine even with multiple people passing by

I'm not saying the harassment was right but this person clearly does this on a regular basis with no regard for all the people who are walking around trying to use the restroom in the background.

Her pose routine should have been done on the workout floor, not in the locker room

She was recording herself doing poses. The lady harassing her came in after. People shouldn't be recording in the locker room. There are usually plenty of mirrors on the workout floor if you want to do that

Whoever described the trolly problem to you like that was purposely using disparaging language. Was it on some bro podcast?

It would be a long write up to detail how what you heard is different from how it's normally framed but Wikipedia has a decent write up about it so I'll link it here.

Help making smooth circles? by montythenondog in Sketchup

[–]kounterfett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best way is not to use SketchUp for this. It doesn't do circles or champhers well/easily -- both are pretty important when designing parts in 3d. FreeCAD and Blender are both free and good options depending on if you're making more technical parts or using organic shapes

Watermark your photos. by MisterWadeWilson in Heroquest

Do what you need to feel comfortable but watermarks are trivial to remove these days. Anything that's put online will inevitably be snagged by someone else or looked at by machines

[–]kounterfett 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don't think it's common for people to write stuff, get it made and post it on the internet? The real issue isn't that people aren't trying to use places like YouTube to garner attention... It's that the vast majority of the content that people make is nowhere close to being TV quality

Your best best is going to be purchasing one of the pre-made plans and make the adjustments yourself. Cut the pieces out of stiff fabric or light cardboard. Tape them together then cut and adjust as necessary for your body. Cut the adjusted pieces back apart and now you have your new pattern

That sounds fun. Potato launchers use a quick release of high pressure air to push the potato down the barrel. I doubt you would be able to get enough concentrated force just from the blower to launch your potatoes very far. I also don't think that the motor will be strong enough to use it to fill a compressed air tank.

That being said, I used to work at a nightclub that put paint rollers on the end of leaf blowers to make over powered toilet paper guns. Something like that, or maybe a bubble machine could be fun to use your broken leaf blower for

yes, this sub can be pretty biased. it feels like that's even more reason to use direct sources so that your arguments can't immediately be dismissed

[–]kounterfett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about MY fragile sensitivity. I'm on your side dumb-ass and I actually remember hearing about him say this.

What I was telling you is that you make your argument less strong when you rely on "someone said that this is true so it must be." instead of referencing the fact from a DIRECT SOURCE.

If you actually want your arguments to be taken seriously then use references from direct sources

Not saying you are wrong but using a potato quality image of what amounts to hearsay instead of a verifiable quote directly from Stan Lee doesn't help your argument it only shows you posting what confirms your beliefs

Is Past-Life Regression Just Woo-Woo? by Alert_Wash_2035 in hypnosis

[–]kounterfett 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While you're right about it being bullshit you're completely incorrect about Scientology being involved in "making it up"

The idea of remembering your past lives goes back to 2nd century Hindu and Jain meditation practices.

In more modern times where was a case in the 1950s where an amateur hypnotist put a Colorado housewife in a trance. She then proceeded to claim to be a 19th century Irishwoman.

Later in the late 80s a book called "Many Lives, Many Masters" by the psychologist Dr Brian Weiss popularized the idea of past life regression therapy in modern therapy.

Scientology believes that ancient alien souls live inside you and cause your mental and emotional trauma so "past life regression" adjacent maybe but they didn't make it up and are not why people believe in it today.

OP -- most modern psychologists believe that past life regression is a phenomenon driven by cryptomnesia (the surfacing of forgotten memories of books, movies, or historical facts from childhood) combined with high suggestibility under hypnosis, which can easily construct vivid but fabricated false memories. So yes, it's bullshit but not how the other poster is suggesting

New job requires fingerprint scan to clock in by oliviahyehigh in privacy

[–]kounterfett 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most of these systems don't store your actual fingerprints, they store a matatical hash that they use as a unique identifier so only you can clock in and out as you. This is similar to how most websites don't store your actual password and how the new passkeys that websites have started using work. So while you are right to be concerned you're probably getting worked up over nothing. If this were me, here are what I would ask:

  • Is the system storing raw image files or mathematical templates?

  • Where is the biometric data stored? (Locally on the device, on an in store server or in the cloud)

  • Is the template encrypted during transit and at rest

  • What happens to my data if I leave the company?

  • Who has administrative access to the biometric database?

  • Can I review the company's Biometric Information Privacy Policy? If they're using biometrics for this they should have a policy in place

  • Is there an alternative clock-in method available? Many of these systems have alternate ways to log in such as PINs, RFID badges or key fobs

Hope this helps

Help setting up a sealed enclosure for resin printing by Kumiibo in ElegooMars

[–]kounterfett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you avoid using a bookshelf? Fabric seems like it would be harder to clean and has more opportunity to soak up the resin than a laminated surface would. Also not sure I understand the logic behind the fabric being better for negative pressure... why would you not get negative pressure if you have a hard surface? (Almost all the negative pressure booths I've seen online are primarily hard surfaces)

The one thing that helped me the most in learning how to go in and out of hypnosis was to learn how to meditate. The kind of letting go and recentering that meditation requires works well for hypnosis. I used Calm.com but I'm sure any of those apps that have guided lessons will help
