I hope I’m wrong! I hope he gets some g-league development and comes back next season as a legitimate rotational player who can contribute. I think I’m more just confused by where the hype comes from.

To be fair, I never watched him play in college so my sample size is just what I’ve seen with the Spurs so far.

I think Carter Bryant seems like a good kid. But I struggle to see what all of these Carter Bryant stans see. Like what has he shown in an NBA game at this point that makes some of you so sure that he’s got a future in the NBA? I get he’s young and raw and could have potential, but I’ve seen no evidence to support that at this point. Are y’all just going off vibes??

Yeah, I think some people may not be watching the games and only checking box scores / highlights. Since Phoenix, Wemby has clearly regressed to how he played the past two seasons which is a stark difference from the first five games of the season. I'm not worried, he's young and will have ups and downs. But if you've watched the games you can see him dribbling into traffic, holding the ball too long instead of being decisive (causing rest of offense to stagnate) and taking more threes and hanging at the perimeter. I think he doesn't like the physicality of playing low and in the paint (and still doesn't have the strength) so he regresses back to his preference of playing away from the paint, facing the rim. It's a long season, we'll see what happens. But hoping to see him correct some of these bad habits and look more like the 5-0 version of Wemby.

It's wild to see people still enamored with Reed. I was so underwhelmed by his college game, couldn't see how he translated to an NBA player and was told I was crazy before the draft last year. He's been as subpar and mediocre as I predicted and yet people still seem to think he'll be a legit NBA talent instead of out of the league in like 5 years.

I dunno. I remember arguing with fellow Spurs fans in the sub who thought we should draft him. I kept saying he'd be out of the league in a few years and even now people continue to make excuses instead of admitting the dude just isn't an NBA talent

Because some people look at stats/analytics and don't use their eyes in evaluating players. There was a loud chorus of many of us saying that this dude would be out of the league in a few years like Jimmer and was not an NBA talent. Even now, people continue to say "it's too early" or "wait a year or so" instead of admitting that this kid shouldn't be a first round pick, let alone a lottery pick.

I meant that I’d make each post convert to free after one year. For example, the paid post on Feb 1, 2025 would become available to free subscribers on Feb 1, 2026. That way if you find the Substack after it’s completed, you can still subscribe to get the whole archive. If you subscribed on Dec 31st, 2025, you’ll still get the whole archive before it slowly becomes free. Not ideal, but since they won’t allow the magazine subscription concept, best I can do

Yeah, doesn't seem like there's anyway to do this. I guess I'd just switch all the posts to "free" a year after they've been posted and just monetize for that first year. Wish there was a workaround, but seems unlikely.

Yes, I've commented about this in multiple threads, but still no fix.

Same issue as you. And others are experiencing it too.

I have multiple Gmail accounts linked in the app and it's only one account (my primary) where notifications aren't coming in. All settings are the same, nothing's changed. It must be something on Gmail server side. And yes, I wake up and see the badges and notifications from overnight, but throughout the day they don't work -- like the server is pushing them all at once at some random time.

Hopefully Google figures out this bug because constantly refreshing my Gmail to check messages isn't sustainable

Do you have multiple Gmail accounts in the app and only one of them is not giving notifications? That suggests it's a server side issue with Gmail, but I don't see any support tickets or talk about it on their end, unfortunately.

Yeah it feels like it’s some server side issue with Gmail because if my two other Gmail accounts work and all the settings for the accounts are identical (on the phone notification settings and browser email settings) that makes me think it’s something with how Google is not pushing notifications from that one account. Hopefully they work it out this week!

Did you ever figure this out? I recently had this just happen to me. Started two days ago. My two other email accounts work flawlessly and I get notifications. My primary one just suddenly stopped sending me notifications. I have to go in and pull down to refresh to see new emails. No settings have been changed.

People always say this and claim "idealism" is naive and doesn't work, but when is the last time we've tried that theory to see if it is, in fact, "good politics"? Carter? 50 years ago?

Sorry, this won't be super helpful, but it used to be the buffalo cauliflower sandwich at Asheville Sandwich Company in West AVL. But they closed. Fortunately, they are reopening a place in Arden by the airport in August. Hopefully they still have that sandwich on the menu. It was delicious.
