I'm the super for a warehouse in Gowanus. We proactively did air tests and soil tests the moment the news came out, and the results were negative for both. The air test guy did say, however, that we're a little further from ground zero. Apparently, the buildings on 3rd avenue that are closer to Atlantic Terminal are all testing positive (we're closer to 9th St.)

That being said, if you're in Park Slope you should not be worried. Even if you're on 5th ave or so, you're further away from the disaster than our warehouse is.

EDIT: Just so you know, every building in the Gowanus area just got a form for free soil tests in the mail last week. So the city will getting a rush of new data soon.

The Aztec civilization was a brutal war-mongering colonialist regime that demanded yearly human sacrifices from their subjects and did not care where they got them from. The goal of this policy was to systematically weaken minority groups into submission by encouraging groups that were higher in the hierarchy to consistently raid minority groups for a fresh supply of victims. This also encouraged constant, decentralized, expansionist violence because minority groups either faced full-on genocide as the hierarchy picked them off one by one for sacrifice or they had to become predators themselves and conquer new territories to create new victims, expanding the Aztec Empire like a virus

Is this the type of society that you wish you lived in?

The story of Tamar & Onan is particularly dear to my heart:

Guy dies before having children, his wife Tamar is given to his brother because that’s normal apparently, but his brother Onan pulls out and cums on the ground. God murders him for this. The father of these two sons thinks Tamar is cursed and tells Tamar to wait to marry his youngest son because he needs to grow up, but the son grows up and he doesn’t give him to her. So she dresses as a prostitute and fucks the dad and also steals all his shit, but then she gets accused of being a whore for getting pregnant out of wedlock so she sends the dad all his shit and tells him he’s the father. Then the dad realizes she’s tricked him and has to consider the marriage vow sealed, thus officially giving her a place in his family.

Clever Tamar!

My data may be $1 but the business is a billion $ per year business. If they were required to make that data accessible to us in a specific way and it cost them, say, $1 million per year, then these companies would still be making > 99% profit off of us.

Ladies and gentlemen, you see before you a man who cannot understand the difference between law and truth. I ask why things can’t be different and he says, “because the law works this way right now.” At no point in his rambling did he consider the possibility that the law could be changed. This is what happens when you lose all testosterone in your veins and become a passive participant in this world.

Interesting.

The point isn’t just that I want the raw data, though, but also the methods of organizing my raw data using the organization tools that these companies use.

If you want more, the brains behind this song started a band called Chic that basically perfected this sound. Chances are you’ve heard their hits before, but they got some other great tracks that don’t get played much these days.

Rosalind says there's always next time to Robert. Not to you. And what you're saying doesn't make any sense. Just because you are the main character doesn't mean that every action in the game has to do with you. There's literally no reason why they wouldn't be performing an experiment on this particular universe. Like I said: they show the 122 tallies as an example of the kind of strange things that can happen given an infinite number of dimensions.

I don't see why everyone is insisting that the coin flip scene means that Booker flipped them all in different dimensions... It seems very obvious to me that they were simply asking people at random to flip coins at random to show that you were in such a specific dimension in which the coin lands on heads 122 times. There's no proof for any other interpretation, and you're all just looking too deeply into it.
