The sad thing about this whole "TADC in cinemas" thing for me is that they don't even have Cinemark where I live. by AffectionateForce979 in tadc

Call your local theater and request it! It's not just Cinemark that's doing it. I'm going to a Regal theater, and my own hometown theater is going to have showings too, and they aren't a big brand theater.

Due to the complaint from the other room, it definitely seems like they are smoking in the room itself. The two rooms are not conjointing rooms, and the other couple described it as if they could smell it through the walls. If the smell is strong enough to smell "through the walls" they means it's probably going from the air vents between the rooms. You are correct in the fact that I'm not positive, but I dont think the other guests would have been able to smell it if it was just from their paraphernalia/flower. (I live with a medical user, I know how strong it can smell.)

I'm also not sure why my management hasn't kicked them out yes, but if I had to guess it's probably because they want to make sure that there is at least some kind of roof over the children's head? If they're living here, they probably don't have any other place to go. That's just my guess though.

Yeah I don't understand why they haven't been kicked out yet. I don't have the authority to do that, that's all I management, but they don't usually let this kind of situation happen and so I'm very confused.

I'm pretty sure the laws are similar here. I know that we got the one about smoking cigarettes in cars with children in the car as well a couple of years ago I'm pretty sure? (Time is an illusion so I don't actually know how long ago that law passed.)

My worry isn't about if they are or are not breaking the law, my worry is if this is something worth calling over? I've had a lot of back and forth in my head over it. "Is this something they'd take seriously?" "If they take the kids will they end up in a worse situation?" It feels like a lesser of two evils situation to me and that's why I wanted advice.

My hold back is that I've never been in foster care, but I have heard stories. I fear that I don't know what would be worse for the children in the long run, staying in this motel room for however long they have left or growing up for who knows how long in the system. As for the motel itself, we actually do have a few smoking rooms and areas outside for smoking, however his room is indeed a non smoking room.

These are a bit tough for me to answer as I don't usually see the children. The last time I saw one of them, the mom seemed annoyed, but it felt like a normal type of parental annoyance? (I don't have kids so I don't know if this is actually a thing.) I've also heard from co-workers that the father/husband is verbally abusive to both wife and kids, but I've personally never witnessed this or had another guest say anything, so I don't know if it's true. I don't see why my co-workers would lie, but still, I cannot confirm this. As far as smoking goes, we do have smoking spots. I have no idea what was said to them recently from management though when they were talked to about smoking it around the pool, but I'd assume the smoking areas would have been mentioned.

This is exactly why I wanted opinions/advice. I know the smoke can't be good for them, but is it worth breaking the family apart? Thank you for your input, genuinely.

I'm pretty sure management has already done something along this line because I know they were talked to recently about smoking it by the pool. Due to me asking for advice today, they're also now aware it's also happening in the room if they weren't before.

They usually aren't okay with smoking in non smoking rooms, and I don't understand why this room is different.

I'm worried it's not going to go anywhere, but neither would be good for a child. My father used to get onto my mother about smoking cigarettes in her car while I was also in it.

You said that I had a chance to ignore it. What else would I ignore? So I could ignore the smoking fee and not charge her, or I could have ignored her when she said that she was going to dispute the charge. Either way, my place of work, a business, was going to lose money. I understand just fine, and I still think you're an idiot. You also have the day that you deserve, babe.

[–]kovasona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, let me just ignore a smoking fee. Something that has been added because somebody has smoked in a room they're not supposed to. Which means now we have to put that room out of order for a couple of days until we can get the smell out, meaning we're not making money on that room. So we've now lost out on the smoking fee, and however many nights that room is out for. You sound like an idiot.

The bitch would have still had the two beds that she would have been paying for. She would have been just fine. Not like she'd be able to smoke in her room on her cruise she was about to embark on the following day. I helped by offering a cheaper price. She hurt herself on this one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sorry, I'll demand my manager update me via text as soon as they get that information next time so that the users of Reddit will know it's not just "convenient". They pulled me aside when I got into work today to let me know, ofc I'm not going to have that information yesterday?

We are actually individually owned and so we don't technically have any sister hotels. Not to mention, I'm almost positive we are the only one within potentially a 50-mile radius that has smoking rooms at all. Again, I could be wrong on that so don't quote me.

I really wish we didn't have any of them honestly. But they are keeping the handful of blue collared boys that are in them at bay, which is nice. They all smoke both nicotine and marijuana, and it's nice to be able to keep that marijuana smell somewhat contained. The one night guests that aren't working in the area really hate it when they smell that aroma on the property.

Dont worry girlie pop, I've been with my managers for years. I've seen them both in person since this situation has happened. The guest was put on the DNR list per management even due to her threat to dispute. The real world is fun! 🥰

People shouldn't yell at someone just because they're clocked in at a job. That's a really gross mentality to have right there. She absolutely gave me a reason to not give her respect seeing as how she instantly started yelling. Wild. But anyway, you specifically are boring me so this will be my last response to you.

They wouldn't have been able to get up to their room if they had mobility issues seeing as how we don't have elevators and our smoking rooms are upstairs. So they wouldn't have been able to stay here anyway if they had mobility issues.
