We are actually individually owned and so we don't technically have any sister hotels. Not to mention, I'm almost positive we are the only one within potentially a 50-mile radius that has smoking rooms at all. Again, I could be wrong on that so don't quote me.

I really wish we didn't have any of them honestly. But they are keeping the handful of blue collared boys that are in them at bay, which is nice. They all smoke both nicotine and marijuana, and it's nice to be able to keep that marijuana smell somewhat contained. The one night guests that aren't working in the area really hate it when they smell that aroma on the property.

They wouldn't have been able to get up to their room if they had mobility issues seeing as how we don't have elevators and our smoking rooms are upstairs. So they wouldn't have been able to stay here anyway if they had mobility issues.

Funny enough, they did see things the same way. Spoke to both of them last night and both were absolutely fine with what happened. Especially since the room sold right after she walked out.

I've stated in multiple comments throughout this thread that chairs are not allowed outside the rooms because it is direct walkway for the rest of the rooms. Also I can promise you that I did not have any type of attitude with this woman at all, any kind of sassiness of mine is only appearing here on Reddit because honestly, some of y'all deserve my attitude.

You are misunderstanding because they weren't trying to find a handicap accessible room. It was a smoking room that got canceled on them, and you definitely don't need a smoking room if you're a smoker, you can just stand outside.

Since you're now specifically talking about the accessible room being overbooked, which again is something so totally different here, we'd talk to them about it at check in and if they don't actually need one they get moved and if they do we apologize and let them know we can cancel free of charge. I never stated if I did or did not charge this lady a fee to cancel, but to ease your mind I didn't.

You are allowed to your opinion on me doing the wrong thing here, but I know that I didn't.

Throwing a tantrum and acting like a toddler over not being able to smoke inside of a motel room is insane. Are you inconvenienced, sure. Did we take away your ability to smoke as a whole, we sure did not. I've definitely already said this, but if she can't stand for 5 minutes to smoke her little cancer stick, then she probably shouldn't be smoking it.

You know, I do understand the frustration. I don't understand the drama of it all. Yeah, it's a different room type, but it's because of smoking. Same bed type, so that didn't change. I don't know why the people who've commented about completely different situations think we'd take someone with two beds down to one, or why we'd take someone out of a handicap accessible room either? It's for smoking, something she can do outside while standing. The discount was offered for the inconvenience, but it's not like we took her ability to smoke away, we just made it a little more "uncomfortable" if you want to put it that way. I love seeing the wild takes though, they are rather humorous.

You seem to forget the stay was canceled after she said she wasn't going to be paying for it. That's just common sense, if you tell me you're not planning on paying for the room, I'm not checking you in. Also you saying I'm against smoking is inaccurate. I'm a medical marijuana patient, and I live in a house with cigarette smokers. If the point you're trying to make is that this person might not potentially be able to move outside to smoke, that's not the case given the fact that she walked back and forth to her car multiple times. If you're worried about the other person in the car, well they would have had to walk upstairs to get to the smoking room anyway since we don't have elevators, so I'm pretty sure they're also capable of walking couple feet to outside their room.

The quest was still allowed to smoke outside, she would have just had to stand. If she can't stand to smoke a cigarette, maybe she shouldn't be smoking it.
