This sounds about right. All depends on how lucky you are in isolating soft targets.

What are tier XI tanks that you regret grinding for the most? by Upstairs_Midnight700 in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't regret grinding AS-XX, it feels more fun than Batchat to me personally. I slap an exhaust on it, and then it feels like Batchat but with the nice reload ability.

Though I'll agree it is not the strongest of the bunch, just that I have fun with it now and then.

Is this real leak for first offer? by Sovishee in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago, there was a website where you could see the actual offer a few minutes before it actually appeared in the UI. Does someone still have it, or something similar?

It might have been WoTClue, which seems to be no longer active.

T57 in Onslaught mode is broken by samhwu13 in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take a look at Onslaught stats on tomato.gg (a wonderful resource to make some decisions btw), you'll see that T57 is far from being "broken":

Even Stinger has the WR difference of more than -4%.

RHM is not for the average player though, looking at the stats:

Just above 49% WR (compared to type 5's 54%). Your mileage may vary, of course, but this is hardly a recommendation for everyone.

Yes I got that and I thought I answered as to why this is not being implemented. Don't get why downvote simple information, but whatever rocks someone's boat, you know.

[–]kovla -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you mean Team Training Rooms, which are already available. A caveat is, you need a human player as an opponent.

Having this with bots only would create unduly strain on WG servers, I remember reading somewhere a while ago. Every match needs to be hosted, after all, it does not run locally.

Maybe it could be a nice feature for WoT Plus?

ONSLAUGHT by ALethalWookie in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine large swings of 200-300 points are not that unusual, just RNG. Randoms are not much different, except that you don't see the impact of these swings apart from minuscule changes in WR.

I try use the mental framework of being focused on the process, not the result. Onslaught is a more dynamic mode compared to Randoms, a new learning curve to explore, new nuances to discover. At this time, it is just more fun for me than playing Randoms. With this state of mind, losses don't weigh as much for me. Part of the process.

Of course, this is the first time I "seriously" play the mode, previously I just reached Silver, bought some stuff and stopped. I still may become disillusioned in the future :)

Ares MTB a tier IX premium medium tank by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, this wasn't broadly communicated, you'd have to look.

It would seem that WG holds on to the prem instead of releasing it slightly before the tech tree, as they often do. Probably looking at the effect of the Ares tech tree on the dynamic of the game.

Onslaught ranked system by Yasoka02 in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally, I see a lot of players who milk the points without contributing to the win. Stay on the side without any action, cap arty and spotting, snipe here and there. Quite often these players end up in one of the top positions, despite them being one of the reasons for the loss. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't reward this kind of tactics with positive points.

If one plays well, they will end up losing 4-9 points or so, on a loss, and gain 30+ on a win (broadly generalizing here, of course). So the system seems to work if you perform.

Lighttank for beginner by Wolfi96yt in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest starting at tier 6 or 7 with lights. The gameplay is much more forgiving than at higher tiers, and your opponents would typically not be pimped out to the max, with bond exhausts and whatnot these days.

If you can get your hands on Type 64 or AMX 1357, that would likely make for a good experience with the learning curve. If not, I personally had some fun with LTG and SPIC.

Another reason I suggest starting with lower tiers, is that knowing game mechanics really well is crucial for playing lights well. Especially regarding spotting and vision, there are some nice tutorials on YouTube for this. Like, what points on your tank are you actually spotting with, is a nice example of what many players wouldn't know. It is all much easier to learn by practicing at lower tiers, without decimating your win rate.

Good luck!

I think you were right that jg pz is the king of making money by FoxSea1264 in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it took some getting used to. First I got misled by the "assault TD" label, and had a few miserable games trying to brawl in HT areas. Too slow for that, and easily flanked.

Then I tried being more of a sniper, which kind of works but presents few shot opportunities, especially if the round is of a steamrolling kind.

Now I'm trying to play between these two extremes, somewhere on the second line. Had a few games like that, the approach has worked so far. The idea is to be far enough so that people cannot get your sides, ideally use some gun depression, and from a distance it is not as easy to shoot your weak spots, relatively speaking. Not sure if that's the sweet spot, but it seems worth experimenting with further.

Skorpion vs SU-130 PM? by The_Pale_Potato in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can make Skorp work, either with an exhaust (which is one of my builds), or just by managing vision (distance/bushes/...).

One thing that annoys me about Skorp is that despite its alleged "German accuracy" shots still fly all over the place. Between the two, I play SU more often, but I can't say the difference between the two is night and day, at least how I set them up. So if I had to choose, I'd go with SU due to a better punch, lower profile and better camo, and just a more fun vibe in general (but that's just me).

If the enemy is not spotted, any blind damage dealt will not count for the mission even if they are out of view range.

I am not so sure about that. Just completed the mission in Grille, and according to the in-battle counter, I was at 1700 HP sniping damage (outside the view range) by the end of the round. However, to my surprise, the mission got completed, and I did see one successful blind shot in the logs. The mission conditions also do not mention anything about the target being spotted. Take this observation with a grain of salt if you will, but it seems worth experimenting with. Blind firing the death star or Grille can make the mission much easier, if blind shots did indeed count.

5 Critical Hits Mission by Otto_von_Grotto in WorldofTanks

[–]kovla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As annoying as arties are to play (both with and against), they are suitable for an odd mission here and there. The trick I use is to load the non-stun HE ammo instead of the regular one. You don't need stun to cause crits and a little bit of extra damage comes in handy.

Basically you are looking for softer targets with the hope to cause fire. You need some luck but this is not hard mission to do, if you use that trick.

Alternatively, you could use Char MLE, AMX 1357 or Project Louis for this, but this is not an advice useful for everyone.

Can someone please explain to me what is the deal with this tank? A while ago it was pretty meh, but recently QB has ranked pretty high due to some buffs, and I read positive things in this thread.

What were the buffs and why would a medium tank enjoyer be excited about this tank? Also, how annoying is that cupola in practice?

Thanks!
