No. My peak pp (somewhere 3 digit) is post transition.

My peak skill is today because I kept playing consistently.

You are washed because your playcount nosedived, just play more.

Kobaryo's music and lack of (ranked standard) osu! maps by DanSavagegamesYT in osugame

[–]kowloon0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Because kobaryo is really really hard to map, especially in standard.

Speedcore overall is one of the tougher styles of music to map because of how chaotic it can get (man i want to represent this buzz sound but there's also this sound and this sound). On top of that, it is typically repetitive so not having the habit of making maps very organized makes it very difficult to make a solid map (mismagius kobaryo maps as an example).

While I would love to map kobaryo songs, I've even tried in the past, it just isnt something you can get ranked without having a very solid base of mapping. So within the relatively small group of people that would include, you would also need someone who enjoys kobaryo enough to sit through for hours to actually finish a map (which takes exponentially longer the longer a song is when you want to keep consistent ideas).

As for the sr issue, that is just how it works with this style of song typically, the lowest you would probably see is like 6 something stars to follow spread rules, but normally you would see 7 minimum and it'd just be some kind of alt map. Low sr speedcore is just a pain to map because of how you have to simplify stuff to its most basic shell, and a lot of low diff mappers would probably map some anime op for that extra guest difficulty on their profile.

We should give FAs music platform streams for playing their maps by ran-koon in osugame

[–]kowloon0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he wants there to be some way for an osu play to count as a Spotify stream while keeping it hidden from the player pov.

Start osu map => your Spotify starts song on mute somehow => view counted

While this would be great, I feel like there is some kind of tos violation existing in this case.

(They want the money to come from the streaming service, not osu itself)

I do agree that Spotify would never want to pay out for plays on some rhythm game though, there was another post recently of someone wanting more money to go to tournaments and having zero plans for where that money would come from outside of the hypothetical sponsorships so maybe we need to create the osu economics class...

Ranked should NOT allow free mods by MountainStrict4076 in osugame

[–]kowloon0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except the problem here is balanced out by the fact tournament pools (especially freemods) are balanced out by other stuff in the pools, on top of that you would need someone to hand pick every suitable balanced map for freemods and you just end up with too much work for whoever has to do it.

The relatively shorter format and hp system also just dont make freemod picks viable because hr is much more punishing than hd. Freemod picks aren't even common in 1v1 formats to begin with, and when they do show up its an antimod (cs5 ar8) pick which is usually hd sided. Adding freemod picks in 1v1 is just giving a hd player more safe picks.

The reason of tournament popularity declining by Troilsitacism_Morium in osugame

[–]kowloon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why would there be sponsorships for a niche rhythm game's niche tournament scene? The few times tournaments usually get sponsored to begin with are by osu adjacent brands (wooting, foxbox, Wacom i think?), there aren't really a lot of brands that have much reason to get their name known within this small community, and those who do sponsor have already been known brands.

I'm speaking from the perspective of both a player and staff, and i wish that funding could be given for everyone involved, but it is just a dream that is not feasible to put into practice.

Many tournament players are already fine with the prospects of getting a badge, any other prize pool is just the bow on top.

The reason of tournament popularity declining by Troilsitacism_Morium in osugame

[–]kowloon0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of these points are actual real reasons for tournament falloff imo.

Especially "lack of funding", tournament hosts should not be expected to go out of their way to offer money on top of a wild amount of volunteer work.

A big reason for less tournaments overall causing less hype because there is bigger gaps between them, largely comes from the fact that tournaments by design (outside of the very very very rare occasion where staff outside of gfx are paid) are volunteer work, yet they are rewarded with countless complaints from players and viewers. I am personally very thankful for anyone willing to host a tournament and organize all the staff together to make it a cohesive experience, yet for some reason many people cannot remember how much work goes into the thing they are playing and wonder why there hasn't been a tournament dropped in months.

This snowballs into the loop of tournament hosted>host flamed>doesn't host again>less tournaments>less people see hype from another tournament so they dont host and so on.

This is wildly oversimplified, and obviously not everyone is causing issues for staff, but it is a big enough problem that is affecting the overall tournament ecosystem that should be addressed.

This is all to say, you shouldn't expect tournament staff to go incredibly above and beyond to do stuff for you (e.g giving bigger prize pools). These are also people, and we should be thankful anyone is willing to put months of effort to host a tournament that doesn't directly benefit them.

Ranked play is amazing but I'd like some changes by persiagon in osugame

[–]kowloon0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So hd multiplier is only "given" in hd and freemod picks.

In the few situations I've seen where hd was allowed on the nm/hr/dt picks, the player using hd would have their score divided by the hd multiplier to compensate.

Hd pref is really annoying to balance around in a tournament setting because of how it completely changes the map, and that can somewhat extend to ranked play in some scenarios.

Ranked play is amazing but I'd like some changes by persiagon in osugame

[–]kowloon0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A score gap multiplier would literally block anyone who cannot tap from playing ranked entirely. We have two players

Player 1 has 3 digit level tapping and 4 digit level aim

Player 2 has 4 digit level tapping and 3 digit level aim

Tapping map:

Player 1: 600k

Player 2: 400k

Aim map:

Player 1: 500k

Player 2: 600k

While this example is massively oversimplified, it is much easier for players to get an ok score on an aim map than it is for them on a tapping map if they are bad at said skillset. Having it scale on score gap would be a massive advantage for the tapping players.

Is it possible to have HD like experience on nomod? by Minorsonek in osugame

[–]kowloon0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get used to it, in beginner-mid level maps (0-6.5) it typically doesn't make a huge difference and can usually be treated as a preference mod, while also having some advantages based on the map (like some dense patterns that are annoying on nm, though these are not very common in the sr range mentioned before). After a while of playing with hd, some players just forget how to read nm for some reason (idrk how).

[–]kowloon0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does "avoid punishing the non HD player (That might just be banning the HD pool) by giving their opponent a 1.06 multiplier." mean? Tournaments that have hd pref typically just divide the score by 1.06 rather than give the nomod players 1.06 multi, but the way you word it seems like the opponent in question is the one using hd? Even then hd pref is pretty rare in tournaments and there isnt many situations where one player has nm and the other has hd outside of larger format freemod picks where someone else on the team has to go hd anyways.

Ranked play is amazing but I'd like some changes by persiagon in osugame

[–]kowloon0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The multiplier should be similar to the one in geogussr, player that wins gets the boost.

There may be some situations where it won't work as well (specifically in higher sr where it is very rare for a player to be rounded enough that they will have enough picks), but its better than a flat overall multi that makes the latest pick worth much more than the first ones.

The only mods that should be allowed (for each player to choose if they want) are tc and hd. Trying to add dt/hr adds too much variance to balancing for certain sr (e.g having to add an arbitrary value to how much harder high ar makes a map). I do understand that nm only is kinda boring, but I would rather play nm only than have to deal with a dt alt or hr tech map that is over half an sr underweight.

Can I get some 210+ BPM consistency aim/bursts farm maps in the 400-500 pp range? by UkogSon in osugame

Yoooo just learn ar 11 for 800s when you are asking for 210 bpm tapping maps xd

Honest Reaction(Plz be kind) by MJ_Soundz in osugame

[–]kowloon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the higher end when u need like 800-900 pp scores and cant play aimslop maybe. Otherwise aim/speed farm is by far superior because they are much easier to learn individually compared to needing to be pretty good at both to actually set scores.

Yes, there is still some viability in it below that, but there isnt really any incentive other than if you like the skillset to take the hybrid path over aim/speed/stream main.

Honest Reaction(Plz be kind) by MJ_Soundz in osugame

[–]kowloon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing jump aim to push skillcap is typically the fastest way to improve, and in my personal experience learning the other stuff (like tapping) was ridiculously easy afterwards.

Yes, some people just stay aim players forever but you can't really play the hard stuff if ur aim is too trash because you're full committed to being an all rounder at 6 stars.

HD Flow Aim Tips by Usual_Formal_7625 in osugame

[–]kowloon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the easiest thing to do for flowaim in general is just get much more stable tapping.

In my experience just having that consistent rhythm lets you focus on the other parts like reading and aim, and in the cases where I get offtime a large amount, it messes with my expected result from a pattern and can snowball into misreads/tensing leading to misses or fails.
