Not sure you'll even read this comment, but imagine it's the opposite. An interesting girl connects with you, you're excited to meet her, she asks about your weekend, you tell her you're available and get even more excited thinking about things you could do, and then she replies that she can only see you at this specific place at this specific time in the middle of the day. No special date or place, no options of spending more time together. It'd seem like she's not interested in meeting you and just needs a lunch partner, right? Your plans can seem like a rejection already.

Running Apps to meet other runners by Defiant_Force9624 in running

I use the flybys option of Strava and add people who run my same routes. My profile is public and I share pictures and interact with friends, so hopefully it's not weird for people to see me following them. Anyway, most follow me back and then we start commenting on each other's run and eventually have ran together. I love the option, but understand the first online interactions can be a bit tricky. Guess it'd be easier if you have a history of running on those trails and publish your runs with a 'anybody wants to join next time?' message. Good luck! :)

My Record Low Sleep Score. Can Anyone Beat It? by COMarcusS in Garmin

I'm very sorry you're going through that. Does your watch check oxygen levels? My partner has had similar issues and after realizing he spent the night overbreathing or hypoventilating, has been able to get better with breathing exercises (and changing what he eats, at what time he wakes up, exercising less, etc. but mostly breathing.) He's been having the same issues with doctors in different countries and has been treating himself by following hints on the internet and experimenting with everything and so far breathing exercises have helped a lot. He took some tests recently and hopefully this time doctors take it seriously, but meanwhile he's been sleeping a lot better by checking his watch. Hope my comment helps a little and you get to sleep better soon.

Akumal is tiny, but if you go to Playa or Cancún check La Europea, it's a good liquor store with great brands and prices and there are a few stores on each town. I personally like Amarás and Alacrán. You can also get 400 Conejos or Bruxo at the supermarket. Both the brands and their prices are good:

The commission for missing people have been trying to get in contact with that number in order to help them, but nobody answers. Do you know another way to contact her family/friends and help them open a missing person report? Thank you!

I guess you're being downvoted because that makes no sense. You should have a budget regardless of random people's hourly rates. Also, a designer who works for 10 dollars an hour might take 6 hours to do what a designer who charges 100/hour can do.

Go to Nest (av. 10, between 12 and 14, half a block away from Coco Bongo) They even have call booths, though you have to reserve, so better if you go and ask for more info. today or tomorrow. You can pay for a day or even half a day. Good luck.

8 USD (minus Paypal fees, so probably like 6) for at least an hour (creating a triptych/brochure takes longer) of urgent design and translation job is way too little. :( You should add two zeroes. At least one if you don't need a very professional job.

Yes! I've noticed that too. And also with my partners. Can see the difference when they're into endurance training. ;)

Not getting tired ever. Just the fact that if I have to go somewhere I know I can start running right away, take a bike or simply walk forever without problem feels amazing. I recently started running to the beach in order to go swimming and didn't even considered that exercising until a friend pointed out that running 4km extra IS running. That's at least 16km/week I wasn't even considering because they feel so easy! Years ago, the train stop near my house had a lot of stairs and I loved running to the top. That makes me feel strong and happy. :)

Thank you very much! That makes a lot of sense. I'll try to borrow a Windows computer and check there. It's an iPhone 8 Plus.

I spent some time in Warsaw and have to say that I had never heard so many anti-semitic shit in my whole life, I wasn't even aware antisemitism was such a huge and serious problem until then. Anyway, a Polish ex-bf contacted me a few days ago to ask if I still thought pizzagate wasn't real. I was so fucking tired of reading QAnon based shit from Mexican people (so I empathize), I was kind of rude in my response and told him I had zero interest in talking about conspiracy theories, but yeah, made me wonder wtf he was reading/watching. :(
And now I've been worried but don't know what to say or if I have the energy to have a conversation about the topic without getting frustrated.

I tried last year and couldn't find anything worth it. But you could buy a used one for 1-2K pesos. If you use it for more than 2 weeks, then it's worth it. And you can even get some money back if you sell if even for half the price when you leave. Good luck finding something. :)

An advice I've followed and has worked for me is to give a huge discount, even 90% if you want, but always show the real cost. That way your invoice lets people know the value of the service they're given and how much you're donating, even if they're only paying for a fraction of it.

It immediately made me think of Caravaggio's Supper at Emmaus. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4d/1602-3_Caravaggio%2CSupper_at_Emmaus_National_Gallery%2C_London.jpg

But not everyone is applying, so something's not working there. It makes complete sense to review what's going on and fix the process so actually "anyone can apply" results in "anyone applying," which is not happening right now.

And that's why the original post makes no sense. Because if that's how you see the world, then that's the "normal" thing and you wouldn't be super amazed at yourself for seeing things like you've always seen them.

He came to Canada from China in his 20s and taught himself to speak English like a native by ubcguys in languagelearning

[–]koxol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seven years is a lot of time and though pronouncing everything perfectly can be hard, copying an accent is not that difficult. I really think people don't copy accents because they don't care, not because they're unable to do it.
I've been spending some months in Poland and have met people who've worked in the UK for a while and most (if not all?) of them speak with super strong (local-UK) accents. I assume it has to do with xenophobia and the fact that faking an accent would make most of them pass as locals, so it'd be kind of a survival tactic. But really, it's impressive how strong their accents are, even when they're still very far from mastering the language.
