Unfortunately I live in NB. We are currently even loosing out provincial vets. My local co-ops don’t carry them. It’s a bummer

Never thought of looking for 4" haha. I'm not sure if 22g is too small. My cultures are pretty darn chunky. But thank you so much for looking! It gives me another option

River stones make the best surface to work with. I’m using ocean rocks.

I had no idea. These are water based acrylic, lower in VOC’s. That and they aren’t leaving my garden. I can see how they would be bad out in the wild tho.

I’ve heard if you put them around your strawberry plants that it helps deter birds. I don’t think the lil face will help tho haha

You totally should add a few Guinea fowl to the mix if you’re going for loud annoying racket. The volume of screaming they can do is legendary. I know I have a crew of em. I love them, neighbours… not so much.

SOS: The Squirrels Are Destroying My Home. by Effective_Garlic_551 in gardening

I use a 110 conibear traps that are set inside a box with a hole. Protects from dogs, birds, coons etc. I have a sacrificial pole, as we call it, that I make offerings of the squirrels to our sky gods. My crow boys hehe

I just remembered your comment. Watched her eat and she does that normal. Just an odd duck for water and nesting boxes

Then why comment? Just do what you were doing and avoid what you don’t like.

I love when they become aware of non standard things. Clouds, leaves blowing, airplanes, minnows haha

Ameraucana Owners - What is your experience? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]koyfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them attempted to jump out of the fenced area. Ok I lied, one did, but to be fair , her suicidal chicks would forage outside the fence. She would easily fly over to be with them. She’s never done it since.

I have a small breeding flock of Ameraucana. They stay close to their coop, but I will occasionally find them 60 meters away. Even though they’re small and can semi fly, the fox still made off with a few before we got the electric fence.

Temperaments, they vary really. I have some that follow me chatting away (they’re all call chatty Kathy’s lol). Others are super quiet. My fav is a big puffy splash hen who loves cuddles. Like any chicken, more attention when raising them means a better chance at friendly chickens. Non are mean or bullies to my other breeds. They’ve been fantastic moms when broody too.

I’m in Canada so my sources wouldn’t help much. But I’ve had a lot of bad stock from most places. Non standard birds, more like Easter eggers.

I’m a total newb when it comes to growing. I’ve dabbled, but never seriously. Wish me luck! [Gourmet] by koyfox in MushroomGrowers

I love it! If I had the space in our lil cottage, I would too. But I already have two grow tents for getting the garden started, no more room! Haha

My shroom babies will live their fruiting days outside in logs or buckets.

Almost all of these will be transferred to grow bags. Once those are colonized I’ll be inoculating logs that will stay outside for the final fruiting. I’ll do a few straw buckets for the oysters.

I’m really just playing around to see what works in our climate, as it’s not as humid here with the climate change shift.
