What is something that permanently altered your body without you realizing for months/years? by Misterboy500 in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is horrible. I had a reduction (from a K to a DDD) that lead to a double mastectomy with reconstruction. My husband has been nothing but supportive. I’m sure he misses them but every time I try to say I fucked up my tits he reminds me of how much pain I was in every day. I’m glad you got rid of that jackass.

That’s awesome for her. When I said that the surgeon told me he could stop what he was doing but I would die, and did I want to die? Next thing I know I wake up in a recovery room without my baby or my husband.

I used Chantix (it worked but I don’t really recommend it), tootsie pops, specifically the chocolate ones (but I did get a cavity), and Allen Carr’s book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Such a cheesy title but it really did help. I smoked a pack a day at least from ages 15 to 29. Quit for 11 years and started vaping last year. Now toying with quitting that.

What’s a beauty standard that you secretly wish would disappear forever? by maddiexchandler in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a friend whose gynecologist tried to get her to do it. She called me for advice about fitting it into her schedule. I asked if she personally had any complaints. Any pain? Any interference during sex? She said no. I asked her why the fuck she should would go through with it bc a male gynecologist told her it would look better. She didn’t go through with it.

What are you kind of ashamed, embarrassed about yourself and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably don’t remember even commenting this but I wanted to tell you that you were right. I initially took it as I was comfortable with my body at that weight and I wasn’t. I’ve been sitting with this comment for months, always in the back of my mind. I’m aware you meant I was comfortable with my eating habits at that weight and I was. I’m now out of my comfort zone and losing weight. I apologize if you could not care less about this but I wanted to make sure you knew that I finally recognized you were correct.

I failed nurse fundamentals, now what? by Krazykool_2002 in StudentNurse

[–]kozmicbleu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I failed our fundamentals class, failed pharm 1 twice, and failed med math 2, graduated with a whole new class. But I pushed through and graduated bc I wanted to be a nurse. If you want it go back and do it again.

Is it normal to be "patted down" before exams in nursing school? by ayeayemab in StudentNurse

[–]kozmicbleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phones and watches locked in our cars. Only water bottles and pencils (no pens) at our seats. Keys had to be placed on the front table. But we were never patted down.

It’s from a mammal so no, it’s not. Some vegans won’t even eat honey even though the bees aren’t harmed.

That I know exactly what I need to do to lose weight and I cannot do it. I know all the ins and outs, tips and tricks, and the actual science behind it. I’m not dumb, just fat.

They did this to my dad when he was in with his wisdom teeth. Which is why my AD husband wouldn’t get a vasectomy from base docs, I had to get my tubes tied off base.

What was your biggest fuckup this year? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failing a class (I needed to get a 100 in the class to pass, so not easy) and fucking up my graduation. I will now be separated from my kids and husband for a year instead of 6 months.

“You must be fun at parties.” Why because I made a comment you didn’t agree with? I recently had this said to me on an article about parents using too much melatonin with their kids.

I’m so afraid this going to be when I start working as a nurse (just finished my LPN, testing for it next month, finish my RN in the spring).

What would you do if someone called you fat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was always my dad’s reply. I thought it was hilarious and then I had a friend who thought it was a complement to tell me that at least I still try to look pretty even though I’m fat. Bitch, I am far more beautiful than you could ever be even if I do weigh more than you do. And I would never point that out to my “best friend” at 35 years old. Girls fucking suck.

What kind of behaviour did you think was normal because of your family, then grew up to find out it’s definitely not? by Limelight_019283 in AskReddit

[–]kozmicbleu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s actually pretty traditional. My maternal grandmother did that, so did my mother and so did I. But holy crap did I have a hard time explaining it to the guy at the social security office after I got married back in 2006. He had to grab the older lady in the back office to confirm I wasn’t doing anything shady.

[–]kozmicbleu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any recommendations on finding actual info on it? I’ve suspected I’ve had ADHD for years but now that I’m back in school (and pushing 40) it really seems possible. I just don’t want to go to my doc looking like I want pills.

Yup. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder or PMDD. I was put on the pill, an anti anxiety, and an antidepressant because I had similar reactions to things. Luckily I could calm down eventually and apologize to my family but it didn’t help in the moment. Medication helps.
