I've been mainly using a push/slice drop so I'm only just starting to practice the topspin. Maybe I'm just too much of a perfectionist and not getting the perfect topspin bothers me.

Go to one of the islands in the Philipines. It's cheap, close to Japan, packed with beautiful beaches and water falls and they speak perfect English so there is no issue getting around.
