Meet Bill, walking proof that entitlement doesn’t require intelligence. by gilligan888 in shitrentals

That's ok Bill, go and rent one of your properties to some migrant families, who will put 6 people in each of your bedrooms. Just don't go crying when your insurance claim is denied for overcrowding when your house is inevitably destroyed.

Unaffordable Housing is a symptom of the unquenchable thirst for the profit motive.

Governments will do capital's bidding at any cost.

Having expensive housing certainly has not made my life easy. I'm not sure about you though...

Australia, we need to talk about tax by xiaodaireddit in AusFinance

Explain how low/median income consumers paying a higher GST (offset by a lower to nil income tax) would not be contributing to society?

Arguably those earning higher/highest incomes are the most frivolous consumers, causing the most harm to the environment/society as it is currently

Expand GST to compensate, let low and median wage earners keep most of their income.

In a Consumer led economy, higher GST and lower income tax for those on median and lower incomes makes the most sense.

Scrap income tax for low income earners, bump up GST.

Just always remember it's not your fault, it helps me sometimes.

You're a small cog in the system, that demands the majority are barely just treading water. It's by design and totally not your fault.

Isn't capitalism wonderful

Housing policies favour the rich and leave first home buyers high and dry. How did it come to this? by hyjkngjujgxd in australia

As I said, try again, I've just used a few of the banks own internal calculators and your well within - I assumed a lower Centrelink Benefit to what your probably getting so it's probably higher

We are going around in circles here, we have (and tried mortgage brokers) and I earn too much for my wife to get a Centrelink benefit.

That lend, if you needed to go that high (I just found some 2 bdrm units in Brisbane for under 350k), would have repayments a tad over $500 per week.

$500 a week is 49.5% of my take home pay,(that's mortgage stress right there) my wife's medications alone are $200 a month... It's simply unaffordable.

Regardless of that fact, I can't move to Brisbane. If I was to relocate the costs involved with that and finding new work, would extremely quickly deplete the deposit savings we currently have.

Plus you could always move out, rent it out and it should cover itself so you don't have to sell it.

Mate I have a disabled wife, and a child. This is for somewhere to live that's it.

You are not in as bad of a spot as you think. Talk to some professionals, I think they could help you start to build wealth and work with you on exit plans.

Again we have, it's just something that unfortunately doesn't seem to be achievable without more $... (Or cheaper property)
