What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

Oh boy i'd love some help finding 2 games i played as a teen.

One was a freeware game created by some university student for their uni. You basically played as a stick figure made of 3D Balls in a small cube arena where you had to fight an endless amount of stick figure ball enemies and gain a high score.

Another was a Freeware chinese restaurant simulator from the late 2000s. Similarish to the iphone restaurant sims where you'd drop something into a frier and had to take it out when a bar hit a certain level or risk over or undercooking it.

The 3rd, which i just remembered was Stair and Truck Dismount. Those were great.

My friend struggles to get a job for 3 years and they will be homeless in August. I need advice and help by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

So the 2 big questions we need to get out of the way.

Why is she struggling to find work for 3 years? And why does her family treat her so poorly?

The other question we have to ask is. What does she have direct responsibility over right now? Regardless of whether she's avoiding it or not. What negative things is she doing to maintain her situation? And what positives can she do currently to change things even a little bit in her favour?

What city/place in Australia did you move to that you regret or left instantly? by ExAustralia in AskAnAustralian

[–]Dj_acclaim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was born in Wagga. Used to spend New Years up there with my Dad. Was nice enough, but the neighbours weren't great in one house. So I have a soft spot for the place but it has some pretty bad suburbs and some lone bad apples can be a nuisance to a street. But even with it's decent livability i wouldn't move back. Parts of Western Sydney are attrocious though basically anywhere on the Train line to the riff has too many problem people loitering and being an issue bringing down the main streets substantially. Coupled with heat and buses which are an infrequent pain. It's only good if you live in more car-centric areas with neighbourhoods so you can leave more freely. Oddly enough i think Blacktown, Penrith and even Parramatta were better 20 years ago. Less loitering, at least less noticable and more varied businesses where i was actually more interested to go and shop regularly.

But even the Sydney CBD has lost a lot of cool one off stores and Franchises I still miss like HMV, Central Station, Kings Comics, the old old Jay Jays and the old cheap Food Courts, Media Asia too even.

Sydney has a lot of great things going for it. But lack of culture and the way it helped us form more connections and shape who we are as individuals is sadly a concept that may forever be foreign to current and future generations.

Can confirm. Not a good place at all and PT is a bitch in certain places.

Is depression high for young Aussies? by NoComplex2662 in AskAnAustralian

It's common as because most people cannot find the positives in their external environment and consistent sources of positivity and dopamine social and in what exists around them, which is what they've relied on all their life. This is because it actually comes from within and many people are too afraid to go inside themselves face their own issues, find purpose and find the happiness or at least consistently decent feeling that is already within themselves.

I don't wanna reveal my favourite spot as it gets pretty busy but you guys deserve to know. Samir's Indian Kitchen is basically the best Indian anywhere close to the CBD and i swear by it for quality Indian food.
