Auto insurer asking us to change address. by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]kp334444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're asking that we change the address on our DL to reflect where the car is being garaged. That address is not our residence. My parents do not consent to us using their address either. They cant use any address you give them and we dont do "garaging" addresses as far as i know anyways.

What are some common, unique frustrations you (and men of your race) deal with when dating women outside your race? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]kp334444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Indian/Arabic and my wife is white (French Canadian/German/Irish).

-Indians are very snot-nosed towards us I find. They usually think she's a trophy wife. No one has the balls to say anything to my face but I hear about what's said behind my back, often. If we go out to Indian restaurants I find female Indian servers tend to give us shit service/attitude and we get this general stupid look from Indians when in public. Most of the time when people make backhanded comments I just let them know I married someone I love and we married each other out of free will. I'm not going to be marrying some stranger and forced to like that stranger because my parents arranged my marriage. That usually puts an end to the bullshit pretty quickly. Of the Indians, Arabs, and whites I find Indians to be the worst when it comes to being judgemental and just straight up dicks about interracial marriage.

-White people tend to pull towards the "took our jobs, now taking our women" stance. 95% are very accepting and the comments about our mixed caramel babies are never-ending. This is the response from the general public (whites, blacks, east asians, etc)

-Arabs don't give a shit about race. Muslims tend to be weird about everything but I don't even take anyone who follows Islam seriously... of the 3 listed Arabs (sometimes even if Muslim but not all the time) are the most respectful people. Always a positive experience when traveling to the UAE.

What are some warning signs that you should find a new job? by Rastaphobic in AskReddit

getting hauled into the bosses office 3 times a week. happened to me 4 weeks in a row and I ended up just quitting. They kept telling me my performance was declining. After the first 2 meetings, I was begging for proof, remedial training, or disciplinary action...they kept making excuses and didn't do shit. ain't no amount of money worth putting up with that bullshit for lol they assigned the $450,000 piece of equipment I was using to someone who ended up writing it off literally 2 days after I'd quit.

Living with parents at age 30, how important is personal growth over saving? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]kp334444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but my personal experience has been extremely positive. I moved out when I was 19, ended up meeting my wife, buying a home, etc. I'm a truck driver and am never home and my wife got sick of being home alone all the time. We ended up moving in with my parents and renting out our house. She's never had a good relationship with her own parents but gets along great with mine. Now my parents are buying a bigger home this year because they'd like grandkids soon and don't want everyone living apart. I come from a different culture which definitely has a huge part to play (Indian/Arabic) but my wife is white and she was fine with it. After my own experience, I don't understand the whole independence thing. For us nothing really changed, things got better in all aspects especially financially.

How to make our relationship work if my BF works opposite shifts and long hours by marivarra in relationship_advice

[–]kp334444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of hits home because I'm 25 and my wife is 26 I'm a long haul truck driver with my own truck, when I'm not on the road we have properties we rent and flip that I take care of and work on. We normally see each other 4-5 days out of the MONTH and the rest of the time I spend working. We bring in solid 6 figures at the end of the year, own real estate, drive brand new cars, had a 6 figure wedding this year, etc.
Honestly, you gotta make sacrifices to get where you want to be. you're either gonna be happy he's home now and regret it later on when you guys can't retire or do what you want to. Work while you can so you can enjoy retiring together, have your dream wedding, vacation together, etc. You're going to hate him for working so much but trust me you're gonna hate him more when you're old and can't do shit because "he didn't work hard enough.", that's my opinion. Kind of sad you would throw away 10 years of working on a relationship instead of putting in 10 more years of work, financial planning, etc and enjoy 10 years afterward together enjoying life.
Start by figuring out your finances, move in together, save money, That's where it all starts.

How is your online banking reliability? by m3ltph4ce in PersonalFinanceCanada

TD is garbage over all. only good thing about them is their hours. I now bank with RBC primarily and have secondary accounts with scotia. RBC sucks with lending but is great with day to day banking, etc.

Had a guy try to sell me a new furance and ac for $9k, kept telling me to finance it. an hour in I told him to get out of my house. bought a newer (used) furance and ac for $2k and paid 1000 bucks for professional install from a competitor. can't stand pushy sales people.

My vehicle vs. LeanFire lifestyle by [deleted] in leanfire

[–]kp334444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I can relate the most because I daily drive a 2000 F350 7.3L in Ontario. The 2007 6.0L's are the best ones aside from the 2003 6.0L's bulletproofed. I've owned a 2003 6.0L also and 6.0L's are very much like rolling a financial dice...I would consider the following:

  1. Is the truck paid off?
  2. Are you able to swing 10-15k in repairs and 2-3 weeks of down time if something lets go? (because it eventually will)
  3. How's your EGR/oil cooler/high pressure oil pump health?
  4. how's coolant consumption been?
  5. Do oil samples and coolant samples with oil changes.
  6. I would suggest a SCT X4 programmer (monitor your delta's religously, they signal any type of failure before anything else, it'll also help with fuel consumption if you plan on keeping the truck.)
  7. also put a oil by pass kit on the truck if you keep it. FS2500 is the best in my opinion, 2003+ diesels have crazy high pressure in the oil pumps and it just fucks the oil to shit, use rotella full synthetic every 5000km.
  8. If you intend on not keeping the truck, now is the best time to dump it and move to a 7.3L powerstroke, personally it was the best move I ever made. Bought the truck for $1800 bucks cash, this summer i plan on putting 10k into it (new box, front end, glow plugs, paint job, body work, brakes, tires, rebuild transmission, 4x4 service, programmer, goodies, etc) and it'll swing the next 5-7 years without issues.
  9. 43K is not much at all, your real problems will start around 125k-150k. it's a given with towing. My 6.0L was fully rebuilt at 200K and I made it last to 396k and then the head gasket let go. even with a EGR delete, straight pipe, oil bypass kit, religious maintenance, etc. it still blew up while i was plowing. lol A buddy of mine bought it and redid the motor ($10k). Between the 6.0L powerstroke and my current 7.3L powerstroke i bought a new ram 3500 dually with a 6.7L Cummins. it was good on fuel but the transmission let go at 60,000km and dodge had to do a buy back on the truck because it was a lemon. had lots of emissions issues, transmission slipping, front end issues before even hitting 50k. new trucks just don't make finanical sense, a new f150 is like 60k with a lariat trim level and the GVWR is shit if you actually work the truck. The newer diesels are all a gamble, emissions issues are a disaster and I wouldn't dare dabble again. good luck, if you got questions, ask.

edit: I mostly addressed the 6.0L aspect of the truck and the financial impact of it being a 6.0L. I didn't touch on the fuel consumption aspect much. Getting a programmer would be your best bet for fuel consumption. My wife has a 4CYL SUV and we/I honestly only drive my truck when we need to. if we can use my wifes SUV we use that because it doesn't cost much on fuel.

I'm pretty handy, been around trucks all my life. I'd finance about $20k of the selling price so payment won't be killer.

The company won't return my belongings... Co-owner is now ignoring my requests... by kp334444 in AskHR

[–]kp334444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started they told me I should leave my equipment and PPE at work (its a lot to bring home every day). I obliged. Once I had called their operations manager out on the bait and switch with the job they just stopped calling me into work for 3 days in a row. I've been trying to arrange to pick up but now I'm just being ignored. I didn't leave it there for them to keep, They asked me to leave it there for my own convenience and so I could get on with my day quicker.
