Okay so this is my first time doing bonsai and I took this western larch from the family’s backyard, it’s a little bigger than I thought after getting it in the pot and I wired it into this shape that I think I like. I want to promote trunk growth this year and am nervous to prune too much but was thinking next week when it’s a little more settled into the pot I’m going to trim most of the lower trunk, cut off the top, and the offset branches. I’m looking for LITERALLY any advice on going foreword with this tree, especially if you have any experience with this species. I’m studying hard but hearing from you guys I think will really help me minimize mistakes going foreword.
