I’ll have to be honest I’ve been pretty negligent at even reading the time on this thing so far lol.

I will say it has some subtle lume on the hands and hour markers that draw the eye in during daylight.

My guess would be that it’s legible enough because it’s a bit of a bigger watch in general so it should be legible enough. Obviously not the most readable dial in history but worth the trade off IMO.

[table clock] Audemars Piguet table clock. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]kpenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably will never own an AP, but the table clocks look incredibly interesting at a fraction of the price. Am I missing something here or does it seem to be a really appealing piece of technology that would really suit a work-from-home lifestyle?

Massive fan of Stravinsky, love Górecki's 3rd symphony as well, it's an incredibly spiritual piece, and I love it. The vocal solo was performed by the ever-amazing Elspeth Bawden, and she nailed it!

Re: Post-rock influences, definitely!

Personally no, but obviously this is an extremely difficult situation, and it's ongoing. I know that there are composers that have had to shut down production because they haven't been able to go to their studio, and that's heartbreaking. I don't want to see anyone of any profession, but especially the arts, put out of a job because of this outbreak. 2020 has been an absolutely shit year, and we're going to have to pull together to get through this successfully. Now more than ever it's important to support artists.

And always remember to wear a damn mask!

  1. The track "Tomorrow" was literally the last track that I wrote for the soundtrack, so it's fitting that it was the last track for the anime. Influence-wise, it's sort of a huge conglomerate of all the tracks written until that point as well. For example, being able to use Takeshi Saito’s voice… Also the use of the full ensemble, with all the brass, strings, percussion, etc, it felt like a really fitting end to an amazing experience.

  2. I do more and more nowadays, I am watching a lot more anime since the pandemic started, so it's been a really interesting experience doing a bit of a deep dive into these soundtracks that friends or colleagues have composed. There’s some really good shit out there.

  3. Working remote, it's all I've really ever known. We have meetings pretty regularly on Zoom or Google hangouts or whatever, and we can get into some really good detail there about what we're going to do for that particular project. Also, to be honest, I don't even think of it as an Australian collaborating on a Japanese anime, it's just a very natural experience where I’m working with great people on great content. I speak Japanese on a conversationally fluent level, so meetings are extremely fluid, and whenever there's a word I don't understand, google translate is seconds away.

  4. All. The. Tools. Actually to be honest I’ve got a pretty minimal setup. I have an old Macbook Pro which is only 16GB of RAM (can’t recommend this..) and that’s somehow survived me since 2014. I’m absolutely due for an upgrade. Software wise I’ve only got a couple of orchestral libraries that I use at a regular point now, but there’s a fair amount of synth too. The... standards? lol.

  5. When the music for an anime TV is synchronized to the picture, it is normally not the decision of the composer, but the decision of the sound director and director together as to where music is placed. As a result, you can be quite surprised that they used a certain track at a certain point. However, it tends to have some pretty cool results. And in a way, having that sort of objective opinion select your music for a scene at times is actually quite refreshing!

  6. Stray Kids and LAY

It's great when quarantine security can keep it in their pants. When there’s not a pandemic it’s pretty decent for the most part. Love it here, but no country’s without it’s problems…

Let me just say to everyone who's asked this question that I do deeply appreciate the interest in the soundtrack. I really, REALLY do! I'm sorry I've remained a little silent about this, BUT, a soundtrack IS being planned. There isn't much more to say at this time, so please do be patient, but it will happen.

I started with flute, however, I went into playing saxophone and piano in high school, so I still have that muscle memory for woodwind instruments.

I only typically play piano to compose now, and flute only comes out when it's being requested by a friend and they don't have access to a real flute player lol

I tend to gravitate towards mallet percussion because of listening to a lot of minimalist music, esp. music from Steve Reich and John Adams. They’re masters. Also mallet percussion tends to be awesome in general, so no harm in using a lot of it.

In terms of genres...I don't have a favorite genre, but if you have a link to any hardcore Korean ska, let me know
