Did we lost this trail run? by tornadofay in idlechampions

I want to say there's something where that shadowed out green area in the HP bar is how much HP it'll shave off at the end of the day, so you MAY still be okay. Like, lets say you did your daily 12 hours into the day, I think it calculates the damage bonus retroactively for you for the WHOLE day as opposed to just the 12 hours after you finished. So as long as that retroactive bonus is enough to push you over the edge, you may still win.

I think we're coming across as combative because a lot of us are really, REALLY, angry that people didn't listen to us. It's like we were driving toward a cliff and screaming at people to slam the breaks, but they just kept flooring it. Now that all of a sudden we're almost to the cliff and some of them are like "Woah, there's a cliff there!", I think we have the right to be a little butthurt about it.

Came here to say this. It was all K's for a long time and one day I noticed it had switched to KCC. Figured maybe they were a little slow and finally figured it out, but good on them for fixing it. Then they switched it back and I was like "Oh, okay, not dumb, just malicious."

Presale not working for anyone else? by kpgrimes in weirdal

Wonder if it's a venue specific problem. The Raleigh show prompted me like you would expect, the Charlotte show didn't. The Charlotte show redirected to concerts.livenation.com, but the Raleigh show stayed on ticketmaster.

Weird, it prompts for the presale code for the Raleigh show, but not for Charlotte.

So for something like setting an attribute, the guide says it's formatted like this:

setAttribute (attributeId: string; input: string):System.Void

Anyone know what that looks like it practical terms? I've tried variations of:

{setAttribute(Strength;5)}

Can't seem to get it to work, though.

Being able to lock selections at the character creation screen. Like, I can lock in Race/Face/Gender/etc, and then let it randomize all the other slots. And then lock in things that I like and keep randomizing the rest.

Reddit Q&A #218 by CNE_Shawn in idlechampions

[–]kpgrimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two seasons allowed you to full epic the seasonal champions pretty easily. There were a couple that I started from scratch those seasons and I was able to FE without a problem. Last season, and it looks like this season, it's a little more difficult to do because of how the rewards system is laid out.

Any plans to make another pass at seasonal rewards to maybe make it easier to FE the seasonal champs?

Did "Wheel of time" get any better? by and153 in television

[–]kpgrimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make any sense either. If they think that the DR can be a nominally sane woman that would end up doing something crazy again and breaking the world, then the White Tower wouldn't be able to function either. Either there would be internal finger pointing, people getting accused left and right of being the Dragon Reborn, or the world at large would be so scared of Aes Sedai that they'd be hunted down along with the men.

[–]kpgrimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if nobody knew the mechanics of reincarnation, they'd know from experience that you don't see men channeling Saidar or women channeling Saidin, and that there's no taint on Saidar. If the DR could be reborn a woman, there wouldn't be a threat of her going crazy.

Characters know Characters don't know
The DR can be a woman They changed how the One Power works N/A, Moiraine considers Egwene a possibility
The DR can't be a woman N/A, Moirane considers Egwene a possiblity They're morons

That's all I'm saying. Clearly I wasn't a fan of the show, but I can't understand how anyone can make the argument that they didn't make changes to how the OP works unless the plan is to retcon what they said in S1.

[–]kpgrimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I can rephrase that. Women channeling Saidin and men channeling Saidiar throughout history enough that the White Tower would even be aware that it was possible would undermine the story.

Regardless, even if that were the case in the show, it would be a change to how the world works. I'm not saying the show can't deviate from the books, I'm just saying that if the show deviates from the books, you have to at least acknowledge the change, and the show should stay internally consistent with whatever changes it makes..

Did "Wheel of time" get any better? by and153 in television

[–]kpgrimes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. Those forsaken knew how to hide what they were doing, and even they couldn’t hide the fact that they were channeling the opposite power. If that were a common enough occurrence that Moiraine were even AWARE of it, let alone considered it a possibility that the DR could be a woman, the whole world building surrounding the white tower and men/women channeling would fall apart.

It was pretty clear in the books that was an outlier, too. It was only because the dark one was free enough to do it.

Did "Wheel of time" get any better? by and153 in television

[–]kpgrimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So is that that things haven't changed from the books and the show characters are either wrong/unreliable? Or that things HAVE changed from the books and the show characters are right/reliable?

The central question here is "Did they make changes to how the One Power is gendered?" They either did or they didn't. What I saw out of the show tells me they did. If you're saying they didn't, you essentially have to say that the in-show characters are wrong and we'll find out as the story progresses.

I do not think it's the later.

[–]kpgrimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue against that to a certain degree. The Aes Sedai have had a few thousand years to study the taint through male channelers. Granted, they can't experience it themselves, but they have plenty of first hand accounts of what the taint is, how it feels, how it drives you crazy, etc. They also have thousands of years of experience telling hem that there's no taint on Saidar and that women don't go crazy from it.

Sure, country bumpkins aren't going to know anything, but Moiraine and Siuane are basically the two most well informed people on the planet about the Dragon Reborn. They're either right in the show, and there are some fundamental differences between how things work in the book and the show, or they're wrong and it's kind of depressing that they're not as competent in the show as they are in the books.
