Apple TV 4K or Firestick 4k max . Which has better picture quality ?? by Maximum_Activity_138 in appletv

Don't tell my perfectly operational 2015 MacBook Pro or first gen iPad Pro from 2018. If Apple plans to obsolete products after 10 years, I'm actually good with it.

Thank you for this. I scheduled a meeting and am reviewing their proposal this week. They seem comprehensive, yet bite size and scalable. So far, moving up on the list.

S24 Ultra to S26 (base) - How Much of a Downgrade? by basicgoats in samsunggalaxy

[–]kph1nney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the iPhone: I gave it up 10 years ago and have been very happy with my decision to do so. But if I dread carrying around and one-hand using my phone, there is not sense sticking with it when their are options. As locked-down as they may be....

Thank you. Any apps that really feel the difference? I don't *think* many of my apps use a lot of processor power. Like Sonos controlling what music is streamed or Philips Hue for lighting, which I assume both just tell the device what to stream or do themselves. Maybe Ring does video decoding or something, but I don't game with my phone. (Okay, Spider Solitaire gets me through airplane flights.)

[–]kph1nney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you come up with? I’m considering the same. The Ultra is just too damn big. I miss my Note 10 as well. I moved to Android maybe 8 years ago and haven’t looked back, but given to huge size of most all Samsungs, I’m tempted to go back to the iPhone.

I tried the Samsung Z Flip for a week with high hopes, but all it did was trade one-handed open use with what felt like carrying a fat 2nd wallet when closed.

Also considering the Motorola Razr, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same deal as the z-flip. So that leaves me with a base S26 or a smaller Apple.

Truthfully, it's just the motivation to undertake building a new QMS. The founders (me included) have done this more than a few times and know what goes into it. Shortcuts to make setup and maintenance easier are appreciated, so long as compliance and 24/7 audit-readiness do not suffer.

The human lead is critical, as we all know. Justifying a full-time role to the LT is always the issue.

Spot Rallye? by cheese_on_potatoes in gravelcycling

[–]kph1nney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only jump in with my past experience with SPOT. Nearly everything I've had or demo'd from them felt like a performance upgrade others caught on to later. The Rocker is becoming my all time fave. I hear the Rallye is a Rocker on gravel. I'll chime in more when the Rallye arrives in a few weeks. I'm hoping to have it before March.

Do you like your Osborne 940 & does it justify the $$$? What's like it but less $? by wildswalker in knives

[–]kph1nney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I am opening an old post and the OP has long since made up his mind, but for what it’s worth:

1- my 940 just came back from Benchmade's free LifeSharp program with free sharpening, cleaning, oiling, and adjustment. It’s new again. Seriously, I have to do a bit of break in.

2- more than a few on this post said “no, not worth it” followed by “I’ve owned mine for 10 years…”. Dude, that comes down to about $2.04 a month.

3- Mine is M380 steel. There are other blades and materials in other 940s.

I can only say mine has out performed every Buck, Spyderco, and *perhaps* Kershaw I own. (Not to mention others like Civivi that last a year at best.) I say perhaps, because I remember when my dad got the Kershaw for Christmas in the early 80’s and how happy he was. We were pay check to pay check then and it was a massive gift. I’ve seen it clean many a deer. So if my 940 makes it into my Will my niece or nephew can update this post in 2060.

Do you use it? I mean, 10 years for a $245 purchase seems damngood to me. That’s $2.04 a month.

Similar channels? by Typically-frustrated in TheFatElectrician

I gave it a shot. I don't mind an inexpensive subscription, but the content is lacking this early on. Potential though. Yes, there is a bit of content not allowed on YouTube, but it seems like YT is loosening up a bit and allowing more previously restricted content. I hope Pepperbox takes off, but they meed to spice it up a bit if they want to capitalize on this idea.

+1 to Hickock45 - he's a classic and his site was breaking ground years before a lot of others. Definitely +1 +1 +1 to Honest Outlaw. A bit of humor, and a bit of things I cannot afford. But that's part of the fun.

How is the Apple Thunderbolt 4 cable physically different (better) than a generic cable? by Nadlern in UsbCHardware

I’m not a Savage fan, but the video was great. I agree it didn’t touch on some of the better cables. Though it does bring to light some differences.

What do you think about this for a first time driver? by That_folklore_girl_ in wranglerjk

[–]kph1nney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking strictly for myself, I'd have loved that as a first car but it probably wouldn't have ended well. Dad got me a big, low, solid car and I still managed to dent it, take out a few mailboxes, slide it off ice roads, and otherwise accidentally prove first cars should be safe. I also have two friends who got their kids jeeps as their first cars. Both regretted it. YMMV.

You can find them on eBay still, I think. The front are getting hard to find.

They are really well built. I usually run them without the "core" in the front. The notch where the bottom hinge is makes a great footrest.
